Today we’d like to introduce you to Sonya Ware.
Hi Sonya , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my coaching and consulting business in 2011. I took early retirement from oil and gas where I was a senior leader in IT infrastructure. As a leader, I had a penchant for the people; to build their capacity, leverage their talent and position them exceed expected results. As an entrepreneur, my focus has centralized around spirituality and positioning my clients to achieve the highest possible outcome and their highest majesty. Whether it’s a strategy session, a team acclimation meeting, or one-to-one coaching; every conversation and interaction levels up the potential for personal and professional development. Drawing on trusted tools and coaching discovery, clients are able to elevate their personal leadership, and develop mental, and spiritual, fitness.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My transition from corporate to entrepreneurship was not always smooth. One time a colleague asked me to speak on my entrepreneurial journey at a local university. I said to him, it’s been more of a faith journey than an entrepreneurial one. He laughed and said, most entrepreneurship is a journey of hope and faith. I have developed my authentic self, knowing my good, bad and ugly from strategically running my business, to being a better steward and manager of financials as well as persevering in lean times. Ironically, the pandemic was my most prosperous year. It makes sense given the spiritual, and social awakening, many people were thrust into. And being able to work virtually also helped with that…I am especially proud of a virtual conference where I presented in full spirit and truth and many lives were impacted. Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
There are many who deserve credit for acting as catalyst, mentors and supporters along my journey. First off, Bobbi Mooney, my mentor in oil and gas. She believed in me and is also a believer, always reminding me that I am a daughter of God. Not to mention she was one of the most successful, impactful, IT leaders in oil and gas. Brains, beauty and spirit.
Acquiantia ‘Quint’ Hines is a longtime friend from high school. She’s currently an active member of my board of advisors and I can rely on her for ‘straight talk’. Ronnie Hagerty who was, and is still, instrumental in my work with non-profit leaders and organizations. She has become a dear friend and confidant. There are also the many teachers who run business in a more traditional way, they have taught me to trust my approach and be less influenced by the traditional way. My business is surrendered to the highest, my ultimate business partner and spiritual guide. For this wisdom, and insight, I am forever grateful.
