Today we’d like to introduce you to Aarion Josey.
Hi Aarion, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I became a mom to twins when I was a teenager, and that experience shaped everything about how I approach life and work. While raising them, I went to college and earned my nursing degree. Balancing school and motherhood wasn’t easy, but it taught me how to persevere through challenges.
After becoming a nurse, I spent several years traveling and working in different hospitals around the country. Being a travel nurse gave me the chance to learn from a wide range of clinical settings and connect with people from all walks of life.
Teaching has always been important to me, too. In 2018, I launched my CPR training business to help bridge the gap in life-saving skills within my community. I teach associate degree nursing students as a clinical professor. Helping new nurses grow in confidence and skill has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career.
Good Life Psychiatry is my latest and most personal endeavor. I built it on the belief that healing should be holistic, inclusive, and accessible to everyone. My goal is to combine evidence-based psychiatric care with a human-centered approach that’s affirming, culturally aware, and integrative. I offer medication management as a key part of treatment, ensuring that care plans are safe, effective, and tailored to each person. I treat depression, anxiety, ADHD, substance use disorder, and other mental health conditions, always aiming to meet people where they are and walk with them toward wellness every step of the way.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Becoming a mom to twins as a teenager meant I had to grow up quickly and juggle a lot of responsibility at a young age. Going through college while raising them taught me resilience, but it was incredibly challenging. As a nurse, I had to prove myself in fast-paced environments. Starting my own businesses, from my CPR training company to Good Life Psychiatry came with a steep learning curve, especially when it came to navigating licensing, funding, and building trust as a new provider. But every obstacle pushed me to learn more, dig deeper, and stay focused on my purpose. Those hard moments are part of what makes this work so meaningful now.
As you know, we’re big fans of Good Life Psychiatry. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Good Life Psychiatry is a mental health practice I founded with the mission to provide compassionate and accessible care. I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, ADHD, substance use disorder, and other common mental health conditions. Medication management is a core part of what I offer, but I always make sure treatment plans are tailored to the whole person, not just their diagnosis.
What truly sets Good Life Psychiatry apart is our comprehensive, integrated approach to mental health care. We combine evidence-based treatments with personalized support designed to address each individual’s unique needs and life circumstances. Our focus is on empowering clients with the tools, education, and ongoing partnership they need to achieve lasting wellness. We prioritize building strong, trust-based relationships that foster real progress, not just symptom management.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that Good Life Psychiatry is rooted in authenticity and purpose. This isn’t just a business, it’s my life’s work. I want readers to know that whether you’re navigating stress, starting your mental health journey, or ready to explore long-term care, there’s a place here for you.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as living a life aligned with my values and purpose, making a positive impact on others while continuing to grow personally and professionally. For example, when I won Judges’ Choice during the Mortar accelerator program, it felt great to be recognized. But the true success came from my growth throughout the program, the skills I developed, the connections I made, and the confidence I gained to move my business forward.
Mortar is a business accelerator designed to support entrepreneurs from underserved communities by providing training, mentorship, and resources to help them build sustainable businesses. My experience there reinforced that success isn’t just about milestones or awards; it’s about the meaningful relationships I build, the trust I earn from those I serve, and the real difference I make in helping people improve their mental health and overall well-being. When my clients feel empowered and supported to live their best lives, that’s true success.
