Hi Amina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Back in 2016 I was eager to find my strength and confidence after baby number three – I knew I wanted a small gym setting and I needed someone to really help me focus on my fitness goals. After a quick google search I found Pilates Powerhouse. The moment I got onto the reformer, I knew it was exactly what I needed. Fast forward eight years—and one more little monster later—and my love for Pilates has never wavered.
From client to owner, my journey has been a whirlwind of passion and purpose. I’m truly honored to carry on the legacy of the Ney family, infusing Pilates Powerhouse with our family’s values of community, wellness, and safety. Opening our Webster studio this May 2024 was a dream come true, allowing me to share the transformative power of reformer Pilates with my old stomping grounds.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey with Pilates Powerhouse hasn’t been without its challenges. Balancing multiple businesses, while still staying true to our members and the practice of reformer Pilates has definitely been a life test. From staffing and schedule hurdles to navigating the ever changing industry trends, there has been obstacles. Yet, the rewards are immeasurable. Witnessing our members mental and physical transformations, especially seeing our members in their 80’s and 90’s prioritize fitness, only fuels my mission. An added plus was inheriting a loyal member base, it has eased some of the initial pressures when you start a new business.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
What sets us apart from the others is our boutique studio feel tucked away from a lot of the hustle and bustle of suburbs, along with the majority of our classes you’ll find our regulars that are coming in 2+ times a week. They know who’s next to them on the reformer and they chat it up and really know each other and it becomes an experience. We care about our members, not just saying that to say it. All of our instructors – we know our members, we know their goals, we know their strengths and weakness.
Pilates Powerhouse is your one-stop wellness shop! Starting with wellness, recovery and then beauty – we offer it all under one roof. We offer reformer Pilates classes throughout the week, private reformer Pilates sessions to help your practice, one-on-one personal training in our studio gym, custom massages with Maggie or Connie, personalized stretch sessions with Patricia or Justin, and custom facials with J. Sony Esthetics. Once a month we try to do something fun with our members and the community, like Paint & Sip night or a mini-wellness retreat to relax and unwind.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I think I often surprise people when I mention having four kids! With my oldest in college at UNLV and my youngest getting ready for pre-K, life truly a whirlwind. Pilates has been my essential escape from day one. For those 50 minutes on the reformer, I’m not a mom, wife, or business owner. It’s my time to focus solely on my body and mind. When the session ends, I feel refreshed and ready to tackle whatever comes next – this applies to teaching or doing the workout!
