Hidden Gems: Meet Elle Mathis of L. Mathis Interiors LLC.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elle Mathis.

Hi Elle, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
L. Mathis Interiors started long before the LLC paperwork. It lived in the way I rearranged rooms as a kid, the way I paid attention to flow, comfort, and how people functioned in a space. I learned early that design isn’t just about what it looks like—it’s about how it holds you and supports your daily rhythm.

After years of building other people’s dreams, I realized I was the blueprint. What began as side projects and mental mood boards grew into a calling I couldn’t ignore. Now, I help people bring intention to their space the same way I brought it back to my own life.

L. Mathis Interiors is more than a design firm—it’s a creative collective. Our tagline, “We liven the space you live in,” is a reflection of that belief. We create spaces that are deeply personal and beautifully functional. In a world full of chaos, your home should be a sanctuary—a place that restores you, reflects you, and reminds you who you are.

Every room I design tells a story—one of resilience, rhythm, and thoughtful beauty.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The hardest thing I’ve ever had to do was choose me. Not just once—over and over again.

I’ve been a wife, a mother, a creative, a caretaker, and a business owner—all at the same time. I was sketching design plans from a hospital room while caring for my daughter. I was sanding and staining teak furniture while nurses rotated in and out of my home. I signed my biggest commercial contract and then had an emergency stomach surgery that put me down for a month—but not out.

Saying yes to myself meant building L. Mathis Interiors in the margins—late nights, early mornings, and lunch breaks in the car.

I’ve lived through layered grief, learned how to keep designing while healing, and figured out how to make space for beauty even when life wasn’t beautiful.

This isn’t just about homes. It’s about restoration.

And I’m proof it’s possible.

As you know, we’re big fans of L. Mathis Interiors LLC. . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At L. Mathis Interiors, we don’t just decorate—we design for how you function.

We ask the real questions:
How do you start your day?
Where do you unwind?
What makes you feel held when the world gets loud?

Our motto is: We liven the space you live in. That means creating spaces that feel aligned, not just aesthetic. Whether it’s a living room made for impromptu dance parties or an office nook that gives you peace to focus, everything we design starts with you.

We work with people in all walks of life—from the single person setting up their first space, to the divorcée reclaiming peace, to the widower who deserves softness, to the overwhelmed professional, to the one who has all the “stuff” but just needs it to make sense.

Each scenario is different—because each client is different. Sometimes it’s a couple needing a concept design to guide them in decorating their dream home. Other times, it’s a room full of memories that needs help making new ones.

This isn’t just a job—it’s soul work. When we design, we’re not just restoring a space. We’re creating rhythm, joy, clarity, and calm—every piece, every placement with intention. Everything belongs for a reason.

What does success mean to you?
Success used to mean being booked and busy. Now? It’s about alignment.

It’s walking into a space I designed and feeling the peace in the room. It’s the text from a client that says, “I didn’t want to leave my house this morning.” Or a voice note with tears in it because the space finally feels like them.

It’s finishing a project and knowing I didn’t just drop off décor—I left behind confidence, clarity, and comfort.

It’s seeing my daughter’s name in the heartbeat of this business. It’s honoring her by doing work that matters. It’s moving with intention, even when the timing didn’t make sense.

It’s legacy—quietly and boldly becoming the woman I was always meant to be. A good wife, mom, grandmother, granddaughter, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, friend, and woman of the Most High—to the best of my ability.

Success is living out the plan and purpose I was designed for. And doing it with love in every layer.
