Hidden Gems: Meet Kesha Amos of The Law Office of Kesha L. Amos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kesha Amos.

Hi Kesha, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I have worked in public service for over 30 years. I began my career as a Legal Intern at the Houston Police Department when I was in High School. My work ethic earned me a position with HPD after graduation. I then transitioned to the U.S. Postal Service. After 15 years as a Postal worker, I graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology (minor in Values, Law, and Policy). After graduation, I left the Postal Service and began a career as an Investigator for Children’s Protective Services.

After a couple of years, I began feeling like I was on the wrong side of the law. I talked my feelings over with my husband, and then I decided to quit CPS and enter law school. During law school, I interned with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Harris County Attorney’s Office. My dedication to public service prompted me to open my own Family Law practice after passing the Texas bar exam.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It was not a smooth transition. When I graduated college, I did so as a single mother who was also pregnant with my second child.

By the time I entered law school, I was remarried, and my husband and I shared a blended family of five children. It was hard trying to establish my role as a new wife, a mom, a stepmom and attempting to make good grades in law school.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.
At The Law Office of Kesha L. Amos, PLLC, our primary goal is to advocate for our clients. We value our clients and are honored by the opportunity to represent them in their legal matters. I also facilitate the closing of Real Estate transactions as a Fee Attorney for Valero Title.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I have learned is to always put God first in all that I do.
