Zakiya Bircher is a compassionate and skilled professional with a deep commitment to helping others. As a licensed professional counselor in Texas, she has dedicated over 19 years to the field of education, including more than a decade as a school counselor.
With a master’s degree in counseling and a bachelor’s in social work, Zakiya is an excellent listener who is easy to talk to. She excels at encouraging others to consider different perspectives, making her an invaluable resource for anyone seeking guidance and support.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has been ever evolving to get to where I am. There has definitely been bumps and challenges along the way, however it has taught me resilience and how to persevere.
We’ve been impressed with Total Control & Wellness Counseling PLLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Total Control & Wellness Counseling is a mental health private practice that focuses on the whole client. We serve all demographics and specialize in adolescents, emotion regulation, grief, loss, stress, trauma, general mental health, and case management services. We accept most major insurances as well as medicaid and medicare. The mission of Total Control and Wellness Counseling is to deliver and provide diligent services to improve the condition of life for clients in a mending and restorative setting, such as school, home, and community. The vision of Total Control and Wellness Counseling is to enhance the lives of clients living with the challenges of mental illnesses and mental health concerns and supply emotional support and wellbeing for individuals and families.

I have a community of support that has help the vision of Total Control & Wellness soar. Mr. Terrance Bircher, the business manager has been very instrumental with propelling the business forward. The team that consist of 4 other therapist, 4 qualified mental health professionals, and 1 Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner has also been a valuable asset to our clients. I must also extend a huge thank you to my forever mentor Danielle Young at Renewed Mind Counseling & Wellness for taking me under her wings and teaching me valuable lessons as a private practice owner.
