Today we’d like to introduce you to Hector & Juliana Machuca
Hi Hector & Juliana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name Héctor Machuca , I born in a family of Tailors, I got involved on clothing business since very young. I went to fashion school on my hometown ( Caracas, Venezuela) and started a successful career as Fashion Designer in which I had the opportunity to work with important brands and create special collections for them, such as L’Oréal Paris, Procter & Gable for Miss Venezuela , Hewlet Packard , Multinacional de Seguros ,HTV channel, Venezuela Military Museum, Ford Models and more . All this background allowed me to be chosen to participate on Project Runway ( L.A first season ) where I achieved the 5th position between 15 talented designers. In 2006 met Juliana who used to work with a recognized fashion designer in Colombia and used to be a fashion model as well , we got married soon and started working together. Our first “atelier “ were open in Caracas in which we worked for years focused on evening gowns. Due the political and humanitarian crisis on 2016 we decided to move to USA to provide our kids a safe environment to grow. We choose Houston/Katy and started to work on the alterations department for some of the best shops in the town such as Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus , Jos A Bank and Men’s Wearhouse among others. Have being business owners in Venezuela, our wish always was to open our own shop, however God led us trough a path of learning before it happened. In 2020 the stores we worked for were shut down because Covid , so we set up an office at home to help those costumers who need tailoring services, at the same time started to plan our grand opening, so in 2021 after grew up our business at home we signed a lease to open our shop later in 2022. We have been working hard for make our name to be known as the best tailors ever since then. We completed every order with passion and dedication to ensure the costumer satisfaction. Having worked on different places allow us to guarantee our costumers our prices and quality are better. We now are able to provide jobs , contribute with country economy grow, help costumers on the area and spend our day on the Shop doing what we love .
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Experience, great costumer service, good location , hard work and off course God’s guidance has been the key to have an stablished business so far , however there is always struggles on the way, sometimes it is easier to be an employee, LOL .
There is to many duties and responsibilities we have to assume. When a business opens the budget is usually limited and better to take care of every single expense, so we had to do everything our selves as we started, from cleaning, costumer service in person and on the phone , advertising and social media , but also perform every single alteration, accounting, etc, etc etc , that’s tons of thing to do, and when you notice all money goes to pay everyone’s but not you it might makes you feel discouraged, especially if you remember you had a good salary before. lol …. Later we started having budget to hire but is difficult to find skilled people on the business we do … so , another struggle came up. But we have kept in mind to many advices of business persons and that inspired us to continue and today we have a great team working with us, an excellent clientele and a business running great.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Juliana is a former fashion model and an experienced Bridal Specialist. I am a Master Tailor and certified Fashion Designer , we both combine, talent , creativity, excellent costumer service and many years of experience on fashion, bespoke and alterations business. When a costumer come trough our doors, they not only find someone to fix their clothes but a very experienced couple who will recommend the best for their outfit according to many factors such as the occasion they are going to , the body complex, the trends and all the costumer need. We are “ beyond a Tailorshop “
We worked in the best shops in town before open the shop , also we know our competitors today , we can guarantee no one has the background and experience we can provide to our costumers.

Relationships means the world to us . Relationships between us as a couple, relationships with our costumers , our employees, our providers. And all of the are based on respect and trustworthiness. More than costumers we have a relation of friendship and fellowship with all costumers visiting us. Without values nobody can build anything to last .
