Life & Work with Petey’s Playground

Today we’d like to introduce you to Petey’s Playground.

We’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Petey’s Playground is a tribute! Our fathers’ name was Petey. He passed May 14th of 2022 due to a motorcycle accident and it’s really changed our lives. He held such a significant space and did so many things for so many people. After losing him, it only felt right to create something in his legacy! He loved a good party, so what better way to do it than with a lounge? Somewhere his friends and family can come and enjoy each other, dance all night long and meet other people with the same vibe.

He died in May, we grieved all of June, found the space in July, got to work all August long and finally opened September 2nd. Here we are November 16th – two months down- and we’ve already had a performer appearance, tons of overbooked parties and multiple record-breaking nights. It honestly took a village and we could never thank ours enough. Between them and our clientele, Petey’s is turning out to be everything we wanted it to be. Something we know he’d be proud of.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road at all. Playing the waiting game with permits, going from an established spot already to closing down for two weeks and rebranding. The remodel alone took fifteen hours of our day every day for that two weeks. Not to mention our flooring wasn’t finished until two hours before the grand opening!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an entrepreneur, influencer, and brand ambassador! I’m somewhat social media famous and I’m not new to running a physical business either. In addition to Petey’s we also own a beauty supply store called CCK. I heavily rely on my social media for both because everything I do is a trend.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that a customer will become your friend faster than your friend will become a customer. I’ve got support from a few of my friends of course, but the love we get from people we’ve never met is insane.
