Meet Ashley Janae

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Janae.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Ashley. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As a child, instead of playing outside, I found myself raiding my mom’s closet. Trying on all of her heels and prancing around the house. Even when my friends came over, we would play “nail salon,” and I’d do their manicures while helping them with life. I guess you can say my purpose discovered me before I had any clue. However, once I began to grow up and learn about the “real world”. I wasn’t equipped with the mentality that your passion could also sustain your life. So, as a result, I fell into the status quo, pushing my dreams further and further away. Moving on to graduate high school with honors and onto obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. After landing a career in corporate America. It seemed I had finally made it in life. However, there was one huge problem. I wasn’t happy or fulfilled. It was at this moment that I began to revisit my younger years and what truly brought me joy.

I then began to pursue a life of entrepreneurship in my free time by cultivating my love for beauty and makeup artistry. As the owner of Ashley Janae makeup, I traveled throughout the city doing makeup for countless clients for weddings, photoshoots & events. But guess what? I still wasn’t 100% happy with this business, either. There was a feeling deep down that kept saying “do more”. After this, I began to notice that during my client meet-ups, I found myself effortlessly encouraging my clients through nervousness & uncertainty.

It was at this moment that I realized my love for beauty was not only external but also internal as well, and this is what truly brought me joy. But, for me to truly embody and share this idea of inner beauty. I had to become a reflection of it daily. This is when FabLife31 was born, allowing me to build a platform where I can hold myself accountable for becoming the best version of ME. By doing this, I knew I could inspire others to do the same. So I did it! I decided to retire from freelance makeup artistry and pursue my true purpose wholeheartedly. From here, I became a woman of my word stepped out on faith despite the fears I felt and began to transform my life. Fast forward to the present day I am now a certified life & mindset coach as well as a published author of two life changing books! As I continue on this journey with FabLife31, my heart continues to leap with joy as lives are being transformed.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
A smooth road is not a phrase I can use to describe my purpose journey. Deciding to go against the grain and follow the things that bring me joy, has come with a few challenges—one of the main ones being the ability to think properly. As we grow in life, we are programmed with certain beliefs. And most of the time, these beliefs aren’t designed to support your dreams and goals. They are an old narrative that keeps you in the space of fear and doubts when it comes to following your dreams. Shifting my mindset has proven to be the greatest challenge along my journey, especially as my dreams and goals continue to expand.

This started back in 2018 when I was laid off from the corporate job that I spent over seven years of building. Although I knew I had reached a “crossroads” so to speak in my career path. It was quite challenging to imagine my life without the security of a regular salary, corporate benefits and the comfort of it all. However, it was in this moment that I realized my purpose was so much bigger than me. I took this release from my career as a sign. A sign to push forward towards the dreams and goals placed inside of me at birth. It’s been nearly two years since this release and it has been a daily journey of breaking my old beliefs, habits, fears and doubts. However, I’ve learned to use every triumph, lesson and breakthrough as a resource to inspire and uplift all of the women who come into contact with my brand.

Please tell us about your work.
FabLife31 was launched in 2015 as a lifestyle blog. Ashley Janae created this space as a form of personal accountability. Leading with the intent of taking ACTION towards becoming the best version of herself. By doing this, she also desired to motivate and inspire others that they could do the same as this message and intent continued to grow. FabLife31 transformed into a lifestyle brand that specializes in self-development, improvement, and empowerment—helping to equip customers and clients with the proper tools—allowing them to effortlessly take action towards being the best version of themselves and living the life of their dreams.

I like to say that we are the first stop on a woman’s journey towards a purpose. Because it is so common to try and build a new life with an old mindset. The most important quality for me is definitely discipline. Having the discipline over yourself, your goals, and your daily habits can literally determine how far you go in life.
