Today we’d like to introduce you to Celeste Charles and Magen Mintchev.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Celeste and Magen. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We got the idea of the podcast, Mother Forking Podcast, in November 2018 when Magen approached Celeste asking her if she’d want to do a podcast with her about parenting and kids since they each had young sons. Celeste was immediately on board, and we launched our first episode in January 2019. Since our launch, we’ve interviewed a variety of people on a variety of topics: sleep deprivation, mom hacks, depression and anxiety, mindfulness, discipline, and any and everything to do with parenting and how to navigate those waters. We were named top 10 of Apple iTunes’s 2019 New & Noteworthy podcasts and have reached audiences across the world, including Australia, Canada, Jamaica, Bulgaria, China, Chile, and several others.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, this has been a really fun and smooth experience. We told ourselves from the get-go if it’s something that became a hassle or something we dreaded doing (aka an inconvenience), we wouldn’t do it. Along the way, we’ve had some minor technical issues, especially when interviewing guests remotely, and we’ve also dealt with scheduling issues between the both of us due to family events, having babies, etc. But we LOVE connecting with our audience and it’s brought us closer as friends and we get to share a ton of laughs along the way.
Mother Forking Podcast – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We tell our real stories, and we are very raw with our approach. It’s as if we are talking to each other, except there is a microphone in the room with us. It’s like we are the in the back of people’s cars with them conversing with them. We are easy – and fun – to listen to because we tell it like it is, and we share our very real experiences with everyone despite how touchy of a topic they might be. Also, we love to swear if you couldn’t tell by the title of our podcast!
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moments of our podcast so far have been interviewing Dr. Darria, who is a mother of two and a Harvard- and Yale-trained ER physician who wrote the book, “Mom Hacks: 100+ Science-backed Shortcuts to Reclaim Your Body, Raise Awesome Kids, and Be Unstoppable”. She’s also a TV personality who regularly appears on The Doctors, Dr. Oz, CNN, HLN, and Fox News and people reaching out to us wanting to collaborate on parenthood topics that have discovered us via their own research for top parenting podcasts.
