Meet Chef Mark McBride Jr.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chef Mark McBride Jr.

Chef Mark, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My passion for the world of culinary arts started 20 years ago when I began cooking alongside my dad, who ran his own catering company. Watching him put a smile on the face of each of his clients through a promise of excellent service, I knew this was something I wanted to do.

After serving five years as an administrator in the School District of Philadelphia, I began to feel a pullback to my first love — culinary arts! While already committed to a twelve hour day as a school administrator, I decided to go back to school to obtain my degree in culinary arts.

Fast forward three years, one big relocation, and M.A. Prime was born!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Every entrepreneur would say the road is never smooth. Running a catering business comes with many challenges, bumps in the road, many one-on-one conversations (with yourself), many long nights and early mornings — but it’s all worth it to have the opportunity to create a five-star culinary experience for each of my clients.

The biggest struggle for me has been growing my company, from day one, in a new city!

Please tell us about M.A. PRIME.
M.A. Prime is a full-service catering company, serving Houston and the surrounding areas. With over 15 years of culinary/catering experience, the team at M.A. Prime specialize in creating a 5 Star experience for each and every one of our clients. When we take on a new client, we come alongside them and create a custom experience, including everything from event decor/coordination to customized menus/live actions stations. We are known for taking your vision for your day and making it last a lifetime.

As a company, we are extremely proud of the growth we made in such a short amount of time here in the city of Houston! What sets M.A. Prime apart from other companies is our heart for others, our attention to detail and our willingness to go above and beyond for all of our clients!

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I would want to start off with the understanding that as a small business owner, it is impossible to start a business from the ground up without any outside investors, and not face some setbacks and challenges, and that they should be used as opportunities for growth and developmental both personally and professionally.
