Meet Chino Angles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chino Angles.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
My story is very different in my opinion, I’ve always been into photography since I was a young child, my dad had a film camera, and I would take from his office and take it to school and take pictures of people or random things. Of course, I didn’t know how a camera worked; I just liked that it did work. Fast forward to November of 2016, and I bought my first camera before my birthday, a Canon Rebel T5. I didn’t start taking pictures until February 2017. I went to my early photography meet up with my godbrother and mentor, Francis Bassey, and I fell in love with it. I started taking pictures and learning how to edit and take better pictures. Now to 2018, I got into Fashion Photography because I love both fashion and photography. I used to be a fashion merchandising and design student, but due to reasons put out by my parents, I had to change my major to Business Administration. So with my love for fashion, particularly women’s style, I decided to cement myself as a fashion photographer and its been going great so far.

Please tell us about your art.
As stated before I am a Freelance Fashion Photographer, I take a lot of editorial style pictures. I get my inspiration from Jessica Kobeissi; I am a HUGE fan of her work and style. For the most parts with my clients or models, I style them; I do a lot of high-end fashion styles. I pay attention to a lot of different ways to take pictures of the model. I pay close attention to the angles and composition of the photoshoots. I use wide angle lenses for my photoshoots, and I firmly believe wide angle lenses makes fashion photography look a lot better than using prime lenses.

Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national or international events and issues affect your art?
I wouldn’t say my art has been affected by local, national or international events that have been taken place. The only thing international or national that affects my work is Fashion Week. I pay a lot of attention to the fashion industry, so that’s probably the only thing that affects my work. I don’t think the role of artists has changed, I think artists in my category of work which is creative photography just take pictures of what they love and make it art unless you’re a photojournalist then yes a lot of events taking place in the world can change your role as a photographer especially war photographers.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
Through my Instagram @chinoshotme and Twitter @99Rodeo. I plan on creating a website soon were people can view my work and work process.
