Today we’d like to introduce you to Cre Simon.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Cre. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Creatress is defined as a Female Creator. For short, Cre is what everyone calls me so I felt it was only right to name my business The Creatress because I’m a creative person in every part of the arts but my main focus is Photography and Graphic Design. I attended the Art Institute of Houston for a start period but I have always been an artist but school gave me a different look into graphic arts. Photography and Graphic Design are my main focus but I’m not limiting myself to only that, I’ve painted shirts, did custom shoes, and paintings.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have been going by The Creatress for approximately four years and while trying to focus on my business, I was taking care of my grandmother who had dementia. My grandmother passed away on May 2018. While trying to build my brand, I was mentally drained and unable to give it my all due to having to care for my grandmother full time. I lacked creativity and wasn’t fully able to give it my all.
Please tell us more about your artwork, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
Photography and Graphic Design are my focal points but I’m an artist in every aspect. I admire a lot of other artist’s work but I never try to mimic what they do. I don’t feel I’ve reached my full potential and I’m still working on finding my IT factor. I painted shirts maybe 10 years ago and I also did custom shoes about five years ago. I plan to start back customizing shoes and incorporate more of my art in my photography, painting my own backdrops, etc.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The highlights of my career are always graduation photos it’s something special and unique every time.
