Meet Dita Montana

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dita Montana.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Before I was an acrylic painter, I frequented charcoal still life pieces and mixed media collage pieces. I’ve been in love with art and creating since I was a kid. The first time I picked up a paint brush was about 4 years ago. I bought a pack of brushes, an 8×10 canvas and some paint. I built up my skill with acrylic painting. Before I painted, I was using charcoal & pastels to cut, tape, glue, iron, and wrap things together to make 3D pieces. I attended art classes during school and on my personal time. I was always the artsy kid, I hated school and made sure everyone knew it lol. I went through a phase in my life where everyone held the strings and chose my path for me. After I dropped out of college, I pursued art again and haven’t looked back since. My words pale in comparison to the stories my art is capable of telling.

Please tell us about your art.
Right now my style is abstract, my media is acrylic and my surface is canvases. I’m a recluse so I tend to my art to tell a story that can’t be limited to words. I enter a zone once I start painting, I can be in a room full of chaos or total silence. I really believe my art has the potential to impact the art industry so that is my daily motivation. I want people to be intrigued by my art and build their own interpretation. I want people to know that 90% of my art is off the dome.

Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
I have tons of advice for new artists but I’ll keep it brief lol. If you’re a new artist and you’re wondering where to get inspiration from. look to magazines, watch a documentary, go to the park, read a book, FEED YOUR BRAIN! Inspiration comes in so many forms, you just have to choose yours. I believe that everything happens when it’s supposed to, and for a reason. So, I don’t wish that I’d learned anything earlier but I do wonder where I’d be if I put art first before everything.
