Today we’d like to introduce you to Glen Arisukwu.
Glen, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
A little background on me, I am 24 years and was born in Houston, Texas, grew up in Nigeria and came back to the states for college. I started my first company in my dorm room three years ago called Glenaris Designs which is an African clothing brand. One of the main reasons I started my own business was I didn’t like the mindset of working for someone and making them money. I knew if I put that time and enough into my own business, it will be a success. Glenaris Designs really opened up a lot of doors for me. This gave me enough capital start my current company called JoyRush which was launched February of 2020.
This an on demand delivery app based in Nigeria and Kenya. We will be launching in the united states in 2021. The growth of JoyRush has been phenomenal we are the second largest technology delivery app-based service in Kenya. My third company RemotePay was started with my current business partner Fred Mundai. Remotepay is a money sending that makes it easy for anyone to send money anywhere in the world through their cellphones. We haven’t fully launched yet but plan on launching in Texas in 2021.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
JoyRush wasn’t a smooth ride in the beginning. One of our challenges was acquiring customers to use our services. We reached a point in our business that we almost gave up but we pushed through every obstacle and are now the second-largest technology app-based company in Kenya. My advice for Entrepreneurs reading this no matter what the challenges are never give up on your dreams. There’s no smooth road to success always stay focused on your goals and watch how everything is going to manifest.
JoyRush – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
JoyRush is a delivery app service like uber. We make life easier for businesses and Entrepreneurs. With the click of a button, you’re able to get a delivery driver to your location in minutes. We plan on changing how the world uses technology. We’re known for our on time and fast delivery service. I am so proud of our growth as a company with all the challenges we faced in the beginning. What really sets us apart from our competition is our app service most of competition don’t have an app-based platform and that what puts 2nd in the whole of Kenya.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment is looking back three years ago when I started my first company. And looking at where I am today. I was able to grow and expand to having four very successful companies.
