Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackie Rideau
Hi Jackie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
All great stories have humble beginnings, and our beginning started from the comfort of my business partners, Cara Randolph’s, couch. Cara, who streamed church on this particular day, was unaware I had baked something sweet with her in mine. I intended to drop it off to her after I attended church one Sunday in February. Once I arrived at her home, we were congregating on any women’s favorite go to gossip, men! At some point during the conversation I said, ” You know because they’re blocked, because they won’t block my blessings! ” We laughed and she replied with, ” We should put that on a shirt! ” I giggled and said ” Yeah, we should! ” With excitement she said, ” Let’s do it!” Cara grabbed her computer and notepad as we started spinning around ideas for the shirts we wanted to design. By the end of that conversation, we started our mission vision of D.N.D., Do Not Disturb LLC.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Our journey with D.N.D. has been amazing! Although this journey has been a very humbling and fulfilling experience, we had no idea about the obstacles that laid ahead of us. On this journey with D.N.D., one of the biggest hurtles we faced, was sticking to our brand’s identity and mission vision. When faced with financial adversity, it is easy to shift your focus just to survive. However, through realigning what our main God what given goal is, and knowing that he will supply all of our needs we were able to get back on track. Another issue we encountered, was finding time to nurture our business. Cara and I both have very demanding work schedules, and sometimes our business goals got lost in the hustle and bustle of day-to-day task. We also had challenges with outside influences of family and friends pulling our attention. Even though life has and will always throw many obstacles, our foundation pulls us back on the correct path.
As you know, we’re big fans of DND, Do.Not.Distrub LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
D.N.D., Do Not Disturb LLC is a Houston faith based company. We specialize in creating unique apparel that spreads the messages that God has given us to be shared to impact and encourage others. Our brand also allows people to share their own personal testimony through various types of fully customizable apparel. Through our clothing brand, we are able to disciple and uplift God’s people by spreading the Good News. The concept of D.N.D. is more than a button that you find on a phone or a sign that you hang on a hotel room door. D.N.D., Do Not Disturb LLC is about not letting anything negative disturb your journey while always choosing God’s mission vision above all things.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Jackie- During hurricane Ike in Houston, my family was without power for about 2 weeks. During this natural disaster somehow, my family was brought closer together. We fed one another, played games, had real conversations, and fellowshipped during a time of despair. Somehow God made a horrible situation one of the most impactful memories of my life because moments like that were a rarity for my family during the time.
Cara- I come from a rather large family on my father’s side. As often as they could, my grandparents would have all of their grandchildren over to visits and spend time with them. One of my favorite activities took place on Saturday nights. My grandparents would make pallets on the floor and give us desserts like homemade caramel popcorn, and ice cream floats while we watched Showtime at the Appallo. Through this time our family developed the closeness that out grandparents always longed for us to have and that is something that is still near and true to my heart to this day.
