Meet Kimberly “SlayedBy_K_” Edwards-Brandon of San Antonio, TX

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly “SlayedBy_K_” Edwards-Brandon.

Hi Kimberly, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey as a creator has been one of growth, experimentation, and learning to express myself authentically. I started out in the fitness space, sharing my personal journey and building confidence through movement. From there, I explored wig styling and then makeup, even launching my own makeup brand to try the business side of things. Each stage taught me something new about creativity, discipline, and connecting with an audience.

Fashion has always been my true passion. I’ve loved dressing up, styling outfits, and expressing my personality through clothes for as long as I can remember. When I began sharing that passion online, everything clicked it felt natural and authentic. Today, I focus on fashion and style content that blends high and low pieces while highlighting affordable, accessible fashion for the midsize community. With over 100K followers on both Instagram and TikTok, I’ve built a community that values creativity, confidence, and self-expression.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but every challenge has shaped who I am as a creator. When I first started in fitness, I faced a lot of backlash especially when I was competing, putting myself out there meant dealing with body shaming and harsh criticism, which was really tough. Later, when I moved into makeup, I faced similar scrutiny, with people commenting on how I did my makeup. Even in fashion and styling, there were those who didn’t like the looks I put together or questioned my taste.

At first, the criticism was hard to handle, but over time it taught me resilience and confidence. I learned to focus on my vision and the people who truly connect with my content. Now, I create with purpose and authenticity, aiming to inspire others to embrace their own style, body, and self-expression, no matter what anyone else says.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a content creator who shares my passion for fashion and style, but that’s only part of my story. I’ve also proudly served in the military for 16 years, and balancing both worlds has taught me discipline, perseverance, and consistency. I give all credit to God — His guidance has carried me through the challenges of creating content, handling criticism, and staying true to my purpose while pursuing what I love.

What I’m most proud of is the community I’ve built — over 100K followers across Instagram and TikTok — and the way we’ve stayed connected through all the ups and downs of social media, the algorithm changes, and the inevitable criticism that comes with putting yourself out there. Honestly, I never thought I’d come this far! But I’ve learned that it’s not about the numbers — it’s about the relationships, the conversations, and the impact I can have on others. Even while balancing my military career and life outside of content, I’ve been able to create a space where people feel inspired, seen, and empowered to embrace their own style and confidence.

What sets me apart is my authenticity and individuality. I create content that reflects my true self — my tastes, passions, and creativity — rather than simply following trends. There are so many amazing creators who share a similar vision, and I truly admire that. For me, what makes my approach unique is the genuine way I connect with people through honesty, consistency, and relatability. While navigating life’s challenges and balancing multiple responsibilities, I’ve built something that resonates deeply — a space that celebrates realness, resilience, and self-expression.

How do you think about luck?
I truly believe that God’s timing and guidance play a bigger role than luck, but there have definitely been moments where things fell into place in ways that felt like good luck, meeting the right people, getting unexpected opportunities, or finding a strategy that finally clicked on social media. On the flip side, bad luck has shown up too, whether it’s facing harsh criticism, dealing with setbacks, or navigating the unpredictable ups and downs of content creation and social media algorithms.

The important thing is that I’ve learned to lean on faith, stay consistent, and keep pushing forward, rather than relying on luck alone. Every “lucky break” or challenge has shaped me and my journey, teaching me resilience, patience, and how to turn obstacles into growth.
