Meet Tomika Gamble of GAMWAY Strategic PR & Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tomika Gamble.

Tomika, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
At my core, I believe people deserve experiences and opportunities that remind them they matter. That purpose has guided every chapter of my journey — from my early days working in communications and education, to building a strategic PR and events company, and founding a nonprofit dedicated to uplifting Black communities and other communities of color.

Events are truly my love language — they are how I show love. They take so much time and effort, but knowing that I can create incredible moments that bring people joy and leave lasting, positive memories makes every late night and early morning worth it. I believe in celebrating each day, each milestone, each achievement as if it may be the last — because for me, that lesson is deeply personal.

When my son was just three years old, he fought for his life against a rare form of cancer. Walking through that journey changed me forever. It taught me never to take a single second for granted because life can shift in an instant and never be the same. So, for every event I plan — whether for my loved ones or my clients through GAMWAY Strategic PR & Events — my mission is to make sure that, in that moment, everyone can focus on all that is good and feel pure joy.

That experience with pediatric and adult cancer also showed me the true power of community and giving back. So many people poured into my family during our hardest days, and that generosity inspired me to dedicate my life to doing the same for others. That’s why I founded The Melanin Impact Collective (MIC) — a nonprofit built on the belief that we, as a community, can be the solution we’ve been waiting for. Through MIC, we support youth with mentorship and scholarships, uplift single mothers, create spaces for Black men to thrive, and inspire everyone to give back.

Today, whether I’m designing unforgettable experiences through GAMWAY or building pathways of opportunity through MIC, my mission is the same: to make sure people feel loved, celebrated, and supported to live life to the fullest — because tomorrow is never promised.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not — but I believe nothing truly worth having comes easy. Building a successful business, creating impactful programs through my nonprofit, and giving so much of myself to others has been both one of my greatest blessings and biggest challenges.

One of the hardest parts of pouring so much into the community and my clients is finding the balance to pour just as much into my own family. Running a business takes countless late nights, early mornings, and long days in between — and when you genuinely love what you do, it rarely feels like work, which can be a blessing and a curse. It’s easy to get lost in serving everyone else and forget that my first ministry is my home.

As a wife and a mom — especially a mom to a childhood cancer survivor — I’ve learned the hard way that balance isn’t a one-time achievement, it’s a constant practice. My faith keeps me grounded: God first, then family, then everything else. Remembering that keeps me centered when life pulls me in a million directions.

So while the road hasn’t always been smooth, every challenge has strengthened my commitment to give my best to my family first and to continue showing up for my clients and community in ways that truly matter.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about GAMWAY Strategic PR & Events?
GAMWAY Strategic PR & Events is so much more than an events company — it’s a trusted partner for businesses, professionals, and changemakers who want to elevate their image, tell their story powerfully, and create unforgettable experiences that leave lasting impressions.

We specialize in three core areas:
1) Corporate events, milestone celebrations, and high-impact conferences.
2) Strategic PR and image consulting for businesses, brands, and professionals — with a special focus on professional athletes who need trusted guidance to manage their public presence and brand partnerships.
3) A unique Business Launch Consulting service, where we guide new business owners step-by-step, connecting them with vetted experts and partners who will help them build a strong foundation and launch with confidence.

What truly sets GAMWAY apart is our heart for impact. Every project we take on — from an elegant corporate gala to a powerful branding campaign — is executed with the same commitment to excellence, community, and giving back. We believe the best PR is built on authentic relationships and a genuine desire to uplift others.

That’s why a portion of our time, talent, and proceeds always flows back into The Melanin Impact Collective (MIC) — our nonprofit arm that exists to uplift, empower, and transform the lives of young adults, Black men and women, families, and the dedicated educators who pour into our community every day. We don’t just believe in making a difference — we actively teach our community how to live it out daily. Giving back isn’t a separate initiative for us — it’s the heartbeat of our brand and the love language woven into every event, campaign, and partnership we deliver.

What I’m most proud of is that GAMWAY is known for creating experiences and strategies that feel personal, meaningful, and flawless. Our clients trust us to deliver results and to make them feel valued every step of the way. When people work with us, they know they’re not just another contract — they become part of a collective vision to celebrate life, honor milestones, and leave a legacy of impact.

If I could tell your readers one thing, it’s this: whether you’re planning a signature event, elevating your professional image, or launching the business of your dreams — GAMWAY is here to guide you every step of the way, with expertise, heart, and an unwavering commitment to excellence and community.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Oh, I was that kid — the one every teacher, office aide and custodian knew by name because I was always talking when I was supposed to be quiet. I got in trouble for chatting more times than I can count! A friend’s mom once told me, “One day, you’re going to be on TV with that mouth of yours” — and she called it perfectly. Not only have I been on TV, but now I get paid to talk, build relationships, and help other people look and feel their best when it’s their turn in the spotlight.

When I wasn’t talking someone’s ear off, I was deep into arts and crafts. My mom, who raised me as a single parent while working long shifts at the hospital, always kept me busy with glue sticks, glitter, and endless craft supplies. Crafts were my happy place then, and they still are now. To this day, when life gets stressful, you’ll find me pulling out my craft bins and creating something beautiful — which comes in handy because those special handmade touches are part of what makes my events extra memorable.

So, in a nutshell: I was the chatty, crafty kid who somehow turned all that “too much talking” and “messy glitter projects” into a career I absolutely love. Life has a funny way of preparing you for your purpose, doesn’t it?
