Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Lara.
Ashley, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Beauty has been a big part of my life since I was younger. After graduating high school with my cosmetology license, I decided to mainly focus on the makeup industry and pursue my passion with makeup. I took my very first makeup course in 2015. I then have strived to be better, and have taken a course twice a year with makeup artists from all over the world. Learning from different artists has helped me expand in my knowledge and skills every time I hold a. brush.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
Makeup is what I consider my art. There is so much to it then just color and brushes. I make looks that transform women to feeling/ looking the best they can. Magnifying the beauty that already exists is my goal for every lady who sits in my chair. Makeup isn’t used to hide a face, it is used to highlight our beautiful features that are already there. Every woman should lift each other up and makeup is one of the ways to make a person feel unstoppable and courages. Having the ability and talent to make a person feel happy makes me feel extremely happy every time. Each and every woman is very different which requires me to do different looks different strategies and that inspires me and challenges me to be better.
What responsibility, if any, do you think artists have to use their art to help alleviate problems faced by others? Has your art been affected by issues you’ve concerned about?
I personally think it has changed, for the better. There is so much more opportunities that we can take to learn from one another and grow as artists. International artists who travel all over the world to come teach and share their knowledge have given all of us new standards and new ways on how to become bigger in our own local areas.
