Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooke Brown Lead Designer of L&B Limited Co. and Lucas Brown President of L&B Limited Co.
Brooke, Lucas, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Lucas and I have always had a passion for remodeling so as soon as we were married and living in Houston, we started restoring houses in the Meyerland area. Lucas worked for an engineering company at the time while also handling all the business and construction aspects of the homes we were remodeling. I had a home staging business that lead into a real estate company but I was most passionate about the design work that I did on the homes. A few beautiful transformations and gained popularity amongst potential clients in that neighborhood led to us establishing L&B Limited Company and working full time. We worked hard and restored many homes in the Meyerland area and truly enjoyed it. After Hurricane Ike, we had the opportunity to build a new construction beach home and enjoyed working with the look of the beach/cottage homes and bungalows. Deciding that we wanted to build that style of new construction led us to the Houston Heights. A few months into a new project, we fell in love with the area and decided to move here and build homes specifically in this neighborhood. One month after moving to a small bungalow on Euclid Street, we found out we were having our first little girl. Over the last few years our family and business have grown and we’ve established ourselves as Heights residents and small business owners and wouldn’t have it any other way! Our office is located on Heights Blvd, we’ve been featured on the Heights Spring Home Tour twice within the last few years, we build between 3-6 gorgeous residential new construction homes a year and our company is now 5 employees strong and growing!
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
When people think of new construction, they might not think of art. For us, every home we build is a chance for us to express our talents and create beautiful spaces that will last a lifetime. Currently, we are specializing in the Modern Farmhouse style of home between 3500-5000 sqft. We are involved in the design process from the very beginning working with the architectural components to design unique and functional spaces for the modern family. Most of our clients are young professionals with young children so the functionality part of the home is just as important as the style. Being young professionals with a family ourselves has allowed us to provide ideas on how to make these modern farmhouses function for our clients. Every client we’ve had so far has been a joy to work with and because of the spirit of our community, we’ve because friends and neighbors! Our hope is to create beautiful works of art that our clients can enjoy for years in a neighborhood that means the world to us. Improving our community with integrity and hard work is a passion that fuels our company each and every day! We hope that people can see our passion through our work and get inspired by the spaces we create.
What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
In our industry, the biggest challenge is keeping up with latest trends without losing that timeless look because what we are creating and designing doesn’t necessarily have a “season” and is certainly not easily exchangeable for the next “big thing”. There might be certain styles that come and go but we are creating spaces that need to function for and satisfy our clients for years to come. I think L&B Limited Company does a wonderful job of blending those 2 aspects of design and function so that our homes stay on top of modern styles but ultimately remain a classic beauty for our clients to enjoy.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
One of our homes was featured in the Houston Heights Spring Home Tour last April so much of the community had the opportunity to view our product in person. We currently have 6 projects in different stages, some that can be previewed by potential clients. Our website and social media pages are the best ways to view beautiful photos and videos of some of the spaces we’ve designed. Submitting information on the Contact page of our website can start the process of communication if someone was interested in owning an L&B Limited Company home.
