Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Green II.
Kevin, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Art has always been a big part of my life. As a child I often watched my grandfather create drawings of super heroes and comic book characters, bringing them to life with colored pencils, pastels and crayons. The vibrant colors and vivid details were mind blowing. It was at that moment I fell in love with art. We often had talks about drawing, sketching and painting. Every time I visited, I had drawings that I would bring to him, asking for ways to improve and searching for his acknowledgement of a job well done. As I grew older I discovered many different forms or expressions of art. Music, origami, crafts and more caught my attention. I loved to draw and often experimenting with other art forms in my youth but around the time I graduated high school was when I discovered computer graphics. I wanted to become a graphic designer. I learned the basics of some of the programs. I later taught myself everything that I know about the graphic design field. Shortly after learning the Adobe programs I picked up and interest in modeling and photography. I traveled quite a bit as a model, and with each photographer I worked with I started to build a secret love for the lens. At this present time graphic design, photography and videography are the passions in my life and each day is an opportunity to gain more knowledge and experience with my craft. I’ve been doing graphic design for about 8 years now. I have about 2 years of experience with photography and videography is something I’m picking up.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I am the owner of a start-up freelance company named Debryne [De-brine] Graphics. I provide visual content to my clients and I spare time often create for the love of creating. Most of my work is done in Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Illustrator. My photography is created with the effect of lighting and perspective in mind. I love dramatic lighting and other light effects that create suspenseful, emotional, strong photos. I always want to my audience to feel some sort of emotion when seeing my work. Typically, other photographers inspire me to produce or create some of my concepts. All of my subjects/models so far have been friends and family members. My favorite photo is a photo I took of my son for his 2nd Christmas.
What responsibility, if any, do you think artists have to use their art to help alleviate problems faced by others? Has your art been affected by issues you’ve concerned about?
I don’t believe the role has changed but I do believe that’s it has gained more responsibility. Artist used art to express themselves. Nowadays on top of expressing feelings art is used as a source of information. Artist can now inform their audience of different issues and events while having the luxury of expressing how they feel.
