Art & Life with Krista Davenport

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krista Davenport.

Krista, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I have spent the last decade living and working in Houston as a professional artist. Although I specialize in many mediums, photography has always been my first love. I am a photographer when I am working and I am also a photographer when I’m not working. It is a true passion of mine. I began my work as a fine art photographer in college and started my own company Kris D. Photography two years after graduation. It took off right away and that has consumed most of my time these last 5 years. I have been blessed with many out of state/international opportunities and I feel not only my craft but myself growing every day. It has been an amazing journey thus far.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
Although my company is solely based on creating magical moments for others, my free time is spent exploring concepts that involve more digital art and awareness. From simply documenting my own life to studying the human body and psyche, I never get bored. With my experience in the ever-changing art world, the exploration of time and space have become my primary focus not only in my art, but also in my everyday life. My current interactive project is transforming that focus outward onto the viewers and bringing to light how one moment can determine our past, present, & future simultaneously.

How do you think about success, as an artist, and what do quality do you feel is most helpful?
I firmly believe that it is success to be an artist. That is all there is to it.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
This year we are having our second annual interactive art show in the dark called “Lights Out Houston.” This is an experimental multimedia art experience hosted in the dark with interactive, visual, and audio installations by myself and 6 other local artists. The guests are also encouraged to light themselves up with glow sticks or lights so that they can be seen by others while exploring throughout the night! We have drinks, food trucks, music, and an art rally as well so that guests have the opportunity to take home an art piece of their own! See more info below and we hope to see you!
