Today we’d like to introduce you to Oliver Banks.
Oliver, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Born and raised in Houston Texas, as a self-taught comic artist Oliver grew up on 80’s and 90’s cartoons and comic books, all the while at the age of 5 making animations and creating comic books. Sketching all the time he decided to get formal training and started going to the Art Instruction School. On a personal note in 2013 he was diagnosed with end stage renal failure but it did not stop him. He is now the founder and creator of Art Monkey Animation, the character Imagine Maxx and also currently he’s working social media commercials for major companies.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I do cell shaded cartoon like comic book art. The reason is I’ve always liked watching 80s and 90s cartoon which are my influences. I just want kids and adults to enjoy what I do as I did as a youngster and watch them get inspired.
Any advice for aspiring or new artists?
What makes a great artist is some who is Consistent no matter the mood time or day. Persistent keep moving forward all the time. Passionate never losing the fire for creating. Someone who draws every day the same as drinking water
