Check out Alice Salinas’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alice Salinas.

Alice, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
Seeing the world through a camera was close to my heart when I was a young girl, and after high school, a friend of mine invited me to learn photography in a professional way with her business. She became my mentor, and I became her second shooter at weddings. Through her love of photographing she taught me how to serve people, how to photograph their stories, and years down the road, she helped encourage me to open up my own photography business. It took lots of prayer to step out in faith to open up a business, and ever since that first year of starting, I’ve been thankful for both the joys and the challenges.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do? Why? And what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I love to make photographs for others, to create portraits and journal wedding stories, for the families of brides and grooms, and all with a camera. A great amount of what I shoot is done digitally, but I have this hope to pick up film again. Making photographs for people is like writing a bit of their history, and to be invited in to record stills of their lives is a joy to my heart. Every life has been created so beautifully, and with purpose. My hope is that everyone I get to see through my lens would walk away from their session knowing how precious their story is, and having a piece of it in the form of a photograph would bring joy to their hearts.

Do current events, local or global, affect your work and what you are focused on?
I’ve seen the role of many artists and creatives remain the same as local, national and international events unfold, in that their art is a voice of beauty, hope and light to those around them. And my hope is that my photographs would join in with that beauty, hope, and light.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
I would love for others to see some of what I photograph!! I get to post often on Instagram, and they can find me at alicesalinasphoto. I also have a blog called Rain Light Down, and it can be found at https://rainlightdown.blogspot.com. It is ALWAYS an encouragement when others take the time to visit your work and offer their encouraging words. Getting to meet and connect with new friends is always a delight.
