Check out Analisa Hastings’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Analisa Hastings.

Analisa, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I grew up in Long Island, New York as the youngest of seven children. My two oldest sisters taught me to braid at seven and I just loved everything about it. At age 13, I knew I wanted to start my own beauty business someday. I started doing hair and makeup for friends in high school and carried on into college. In 2009, I graduated with my BS in Business Administration and soon after started doing hair and makeup for weddings and special occasions. In 2013, I got my esthetic’s license so that I could incorporate skincare as a part of my business. I now own “Analisa Hastings” and have 6 artists that work for me.

I had a beautiful baby girl on my birthday last year and it has changed me and my business for the better. Not only am I doing special occasion hair and makeup, but now, I’m doing hair and makeup for photo shoots where I can relate to growing families and give back in an even greater way than I ever imagined.

I love what I do and wouldn’t trade it for anything. The best part is that I’ve been given the tools to make others feel and look their best. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing my client’s faces light up when they look in the mirror and realize how beautiful they really are. It’s my job to show that beauty to my clients so that they can see and love it as much as I do!

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
People are my art. I take a beautiful canvas that God created so perfectly and create a masterpiece that my clients can see the beauty in. As a woman, I know how hard I can be on myself in regards to my appearance. The world is constantly telling us we are not enough. I see what I do as a way to change that. To take a person as they are and show them they are not just enough, but they are perfect just the way they are. It’s instilling a confidence in my clients to know they are truly beautiful. I specialize in doing a natural look, not because I can’t do glamour, but because that’s where my heart is. I don’t want to change the person in my chair into someone they are not, rather, I want to help the person in my chair see the beauty that is already there!

The stereotype of a starving artist scares away many potentially talented artists from pursuing art – any advice or thoughts about how to deal with the financial concerns an aspiring artist might be concerned about?
Being a hair and makeup artist can get pricy trying to keep up with the latest trends, products, and education.

My advice for those starting out is to read. There are so many articles and products reviews. It makes it so much easier to filter through all the product research. There will always be trial and error with some products, but learning from others is the best way to go. I also recommend using YouTube – it’s a great resource for learning and it’s free!

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
You can see my work and the work of my fabulous artists on our website, Facebook, and Instagram.
