Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Snow.
Brandon, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
Florida born, Texas raised, art saved. I have a passion for preserving history while living in the present, getting my hands dirty, and, most of all, living life on my own terms. Art allows me to do all this and contribute to my family. My work is who I am.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
In a few words, I take photographs and present them through large format photographic silk screen prints which I hand pull myself on the studio floor. Photographically, I am inspired by the camera’s ability to forever capture a moment that would never be remembered, and in many instances never even seen. Artistically, I am inspired to present these moments in larger than life silk screen prints. The silk screen method provides me the opportunity to be directly connected to every aspect of the work in a very physical way. I hand pull every print, cut and build the frames, hand develop the film, everything. I feel so distanced from an image of mine that may be sent off to be printed in a photo lab by modern computer methods.
Artists face many challenges, but what do you feel is the most pressing among them?
The biggest challenge is always going to be oneself. I could go on for quite a while here, but yeah, you’re always going to be your own biggest challenge.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
In the digital world, you can support me and stay up to date through my website: www.brandonsnowart.com . I update the “News” section regularly, you can see the evolution of my work thru my Full Portfolio I have uploaded, and support me with the purchase of limited edition works on paper in my Shop. However, the work is always better in person. If your ever in Austin, Tx, the Art on 5th Gallery always has an inventory of work on display to see and buy in person.
