Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Robinson.
Chris, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I’m a 28-year-old Graphic Designer and illustrator that moved here for school eight years ago from Austin and never left. I’ve been a creative most of my life and all of my professional career. I love typography, sports, and rap music. I try to bring them out in every design. Im influenced by Reuben Live ( owner of Grits clothing), Arturo Torres, Miya Bailey, and House industries just to name a few. My faith, family and my friends are big part of my creative process so for me without God and them I wouldn’t have this gift and these opportunities.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do? Why? And what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I’m a graphic designer and illustrator. I like to blind the two. I create by hand and illustrate on my iPad just jumping between mediums trying to find the right balance. My influences are sports, the African American experience and how it moves pop culture norms, and southern hip hop. So I’m forever trying to merge the three in some way.
What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
Success to me is when the people that I’ve been trying to work for and couldn’t. Start to ask can they work with me. And constantly refining my illustration skills. Last but not least being able to provide for myself solely as a creative which I’ve been blessed to do for a while now.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
