Check Out Brittany Gaskin’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Gaskin.

Hi Brittany, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I love daiquiri’s and the different spin that all the shops here in Houston had on them, but it dawned on me that every spot was Louisiana themed, or super girly and some were just downright nasty and had no sort of vibe. So we thought that Houston needed something for Houston. Everyone loves H-Town culture, and the “accents” we have, and want to know and learn more about it. About us. So that’s what we decided to do. Our trademark logo embodies nostalgic Houston, by incorporating the bald fade that so many wore back in the day, with a cup of that purple stuff. Everything in our shop is Houston themed right down to the names of the cup sizes and drinks. WE are from Houston and are proud to give Houstonians something for them to be proud of too!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We opened during the middle of the Coronavirus pandemic, so no, it wasn’t easy at all! We had to learn some very challenging things, especially with dealing with the City of Houston permitting process. We built and painted everything in our shop ourselves also. Just the thought of even opening a business mid-pandemic was crazy but we’re still going.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We used to have some very nice jobs from various backgrounds. Administrative to general labor to railroad transportation, but the idea of someone else telling us when to take a break, go to the restroom, how long we have to eat…just never sat well with either of us. And now, of course, we barely get a restroom break or we have to eat on the go, lol, but this is the life that we want and it’s honestly a lot more satisfying, even if it is 25/8! We both run multiple companies presently. I have my hands full with a designer custom bakery and a cleaning company with over 35 units, and my partner has an independent family-owned roofing company, serving all of Houston and surrounding areas.

How do you define success?
When we’re able to provide ‘our people’ with better choices, better service, and provide better opportunities for them, then just maybe we’re on the road to being successful. We see us being a staple attraction for Houston and the culture, 5 or more locations that are doing very well, and being able to franchise. Financial independence in every aspect.
