Today we’d like to introduce you to Caitlin Jones.
Hi Caitlin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started the cosmetology program in high school and also began working at Flair Salon and Spa while I was a junior as a receptionist and shampoo assistant. After graduation, I kept working the front desk as well as taking a few clients here and there. The owners had faith in me to be a successful stylist and it really made me confident enough to booth rent. It has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and I absolutely love my job and salon.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have definitely been struggles along the way and I almost quit cosmetology school in high school because I didn’t think I was good enough or cut out for this industry. I had a lot of doubt in myself and when you have an upset client it can really set you back and force you to reflect on your choices and I sometimes felt in the beginning of my career that I wasn’t good enough. After years of taking extra classes and also giving myself some grace, I have more confidence in my skill than ever before. Anything worthwhile isn’t going to be super easy but I am so grateful I have an amazing support system and also other stylists in the salon that want to help and work together.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a blonding and extension specialist so that is the majority of my clientele but I do have a master color expert certification from Wella and really love doing color as well. I feel like what sets me apart is my relationships I can establish with clients. I always want everyone to feel respected and that they have a wonderful experience from start to finish. You’re not just another person in my chair you’re important and will be given the best hair advice I can offer, along with gorgeous hair!
Any big plans?
I have no intentions of ever leaving Flair everyone there has been in my life for so long it actually feels like a family. I’d say there are no big changes happening right now but who knows! I’m always looking for new trends to learn and bring to the salon so never say never!
