Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Herron.
Hi Jennifer, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hello, I’m Jennifer Herron Co-owner of Loadz of Love Childcare and JMStuidos Inc. Both are based in the Houston Hiram Clarke area in which I grow up in. I started this journey to almost about to be 5 years ago with my business partner Michelle Caldwell. But for me, I’ve been wanting to start a daycare since I was 16 years old. I have always loved kids and seeing them grow and learn. It didn’t happen then but it’s happening now for years I feared my own faith. And I was stepping in my own way to become the best person I am today. Once I let that go, I went with it, with my friend and business partner believing in me as the director and face of the person the people talk to. It’s been going well ever since. Loadz of love makes 5 years on Nov 17 and JMStudios Inc (@JMStudios) makes a year on Dec 1. Its days am like, WOW, I’m doing what I dreamed of and giving back to the community. Never put a time on a goal or dream just keep working towards what your passion is and make it a job you will love going to forever. My parents of my babies, thanks for allowing me to love and care for them while you’re away. God’s greatest blessing and our future tomorrow.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The best thing about it is my staff, the same staff I started with till this day. I worked at a daycare before this and the staff turnover was crazy. So I said when I get my own daycare, that was one of the things I didn’t want to happen. So I’ve been making sure I stay up on trainings and staying engaged with what the staff and parents are saying and asking of me. It’s more like a little family to me. Without them I`m nothing. The texts and calls I get from my old parents about how good my kids that have moved on are doing are my greatest reward. Let me know I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing getting these kids ready for big school as they say lol.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Keeping the kid’s attention so we have to come up with fun ways of learning. They think they playing but really learning at the same time. Everything is fun with hands-on stuff.
What matters most to you? Why?
The most important thing is a kid’s happiness. You never know what a kid is dealing with on their own or at home. So giving them a safe space. Being open to them expressing themselves.
