Check Out Priya Sane’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Priya Sane.

Hi Priya, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was in high school at the age of 16 when I was hired as a makeup artist for Glamour Shots, a popular photography studio in the woodlands. It was my first job and where my love for makeup began. At 18 I was excited to be hired by MAC cosmetics and spent the following 5 years learning and refining my makeup skills and techniques. MAC was an amazing stepping stone because we service dozens of clients a day if not more. I was also a part of their impact team and was given the opportunity to travel on their behalf to teach and participate in branding events such as fashion shows and teaching seminars throughout Texas. At 23 I decided to step away from the retail side of the business and focus on launching my company Faces by Priya so I could put all my energy into servicing clients. My absolute favorite thing about being a makeup artist is being a part of so many joyous and fun occasions and ensuring everyone looks and feels their best. For the next 7 years, I worked with hundreds of clients from weddings, proms, quinceaneras, birthdays/date nights, maternities, photoshoots and even had some of my work published. I was so happy with what I had accomplished for, and with my clients but still knew I wanted to provide more. In many ways, 2020 was a new beginning for everyone. I decided to go back to school and get my esthetician license so that I could help my clients look flawless starting at the root with skincare. Over the last decade in the industry as a makeup artist, I noticed a lot of my clients were struggling with skin and I wanted to be able to provide the knowledge and services needed to get them to their goals. Glam up & Glow out was created to encompass all of the new services to come. Now on top of my “glam up” (traditional and airbrush makeup) services, I will be providing services like Facials, chemical peels, and other services to ensure my clients are glowing from head to toe.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
“Everybody falls but it’s about how relentlessly you get up.”

This is something I have always lived by. My journey started very young so I did have some struggles along the way. Learning how to manage the business side and artistry side of things was one struggle earlier on when I first started but luckily there are so many resources available and people who are happy to help. In 2016 I decided to take a step back and moved to California. During this time I was only working part time and most of my clientele was in Houston so I was traveling back and forth quite a bit. In 2020 at the start of covid, I decided to move back to Houston to avoid any travel restrictions. Once life came back to normal a bit I decided to start Glam up and Glow out and get back to beauty full time.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a professional makeup artist and esthetician with over 15 years of experience in the industry. I specialize in Bridal and event makeup but provide makeup services for ALL occasions from date night to creative Halloween looks my brushes are my superpower. I also specialize in skin services like chemical peels and facials and provide combined packages for brides and clients to ensure they look perfect for their big day. What sets me apart is that I am not just your makeup artist, I’m a point of contact for any beauty related questions clients may have at anytime. I pride on working with my brides and bridal parties for months if not over a year prior to their event when possible. We plan out skin goals, go over wardrobe and makeup ideas not only for the wedding day but engagement photos, bachelorette party, bridal shower, etc. My brides and regular clients alike know that I’m just a call or email away because we are working closely together to get everything just right. Although I’m just a hired makeup artist for me being chosen to be a part of any occasion is a huge responsibility that I take to heart and my goal is to ease any stress, provide a moment to relax, and have you ready on time looking and feeling your best. Currently, I am most proud of starting my journey on social media I just started creating tutorials and other beauty content to now add to the resources available online to help others learn and master their makeup and beauty routine from the comfort of their home. I do provide one on one lessons but can only reach so many faces in a day so I’m very excited to be able to provide knowledge and tips in a more accessible way
