Check Out Toyreale White ’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Toyreale White.

Hi Toyreale, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started dancing at 2 years old, but I didn’t really get into dance until I was 10 years old. MY DAD PLAYED A BIG PART OF MY DANCE JOURNEY… I do not really want to get too deep into that though …I joined Girl Scouts, and we had a camp talent show. My mom put me in, and I ended up winning. They wanted to recruit me, but my mom thought I was too young at the time. I continued to dance, and I started my own dance teams, and step teams at my school. I noticed how much I loved dancing and the reaction that came with it. Moving forward I started to audition for studios, I’ve never really trained, so I was really self-taught. I started at a studio right before so real, but I can’t remember the location at the moment. I lived by memorial, and I have seen that they were having auditions. I didn’t think I would make it, but I did. I actually learned a lot, when I was on the team. No lie, it was hard because I didn’t have any training. But it was a great decision for me in the end.

When I was at soundbox, I joined a dance team, called core. That was one of the best decisions, I’ve made. I learned so much, and that opened me up to explore a lot of new ways to move my body. I’ve joined many teams after, like wild style, and an all women’s dance team. From there I started to audition for gigs. I tried out for the super bowl, and it was for a spot on the dance part team. I ended up making it, I was so happy. I didn’t know if I was ready … but that showed me, that I was. I started to book more and more. I actually became confident in myself. Now I am able to create, and book gigs as a lead choreographer. There’s so much more to why I dance, but this is just a small look into my journey …. I’m at a spot where I have to keep pushing, I’m so close to where I want to be. There’s so much I want to say, but that would make this longer than it needs to be. I just know 2022 will be even greater.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
This dance journey has been very hard for me. When you don’t have people who understand why you dance, they tend to talk down on it. I almost quit dance, because of all of the criticism, from family, and etc. Not feeling good enough, not being technically trained like my peers, just always being called different. My style not fitting in with others.

I want to thank Moses Moy for helping me financially, and mentally at times when I wanted to give up. You played a major part in my journey. I will forever be grateful for that.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a hip hop teacher, choreographer. I teach privates, and so much more. I finally made the decision to go full time, with dancing. TikTok has helped me when it comes to growing my audience. I AM PROUD THAT I DIDN’T GIVE UP, THAT I CAN SHOW MY BOYS SOMETHING DIFFERENT. I really am in my own lane, I don’t like to be like everyone else. I want to be a well-rounded dancer, I can hang with the guys .. but I want to show that I can do everything.

What matters most to you? Why?
I want to be able to provide the best life for my boys. Being able to make a way for others. Creating more opportunities for Houston creatives. We are slept on.
