Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophia Romero.
Sophia, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
My art journey started since I was a little girl watching my father draw. I always wanted to find my niche in art that resembled me and who I am. I’ve loved stationery items my whole life, pretty paper and different kinds of pens. In recent years was when I came across Bullet Journaling through Pinterest, I thought it was great that I could have the ability to create my own planner that catered to my needs without conforming to an already created template because I sure do love to plan!
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I do hand-lettering, modern calligraphy to be exact, and Bullet Journaling. I do this form of art because I like being able to create a planner for my own needs and also love writing special things for people who enjoy watching my letter and for people who want me to create work for them. The message of inspiration that I get from Bullet Journaling and hand-lettering is to do something that you not only enjoy doing but that it also be a form of self-care for your own mental health. I hope that when people see my art, that they feel capable of creating something like it even if they feel they won’t be able to produce something beautiful because practice makes progress and you can only get better at something you keep doing your best effort in.
What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
Don’t give up even when you think your work isn’t good enough. We all start somewhere and it isn’t always pretty at the beginning but it will get there!

My hope is to brand myself soon and create my own website and sell my work, such as wedding invitations, envelopes and basic hand-lettering books and materials for those that want to start Bullet Journaling and/or hand lettering.
