Community Highlights: Meet Cheyenne Ballard & Skyler Moore of Genuine Links

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheyenne Ballard & Skyler Moore.

Cheyenne & Skyler, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Genuine links blossomed from what started as a small idea of a new social experiment amongst friends to planning an entire event with an exclusive guest list of professionals. We founded our brand on curating a space where people can be themselves and form meaningful relationships. We plan to have a wide portfolio of events ranging from professional networking to art gallery shows. We want Houstonians to step outside the box and try new things! Meeting new people in different environments is one of our main goals, and we want to have fun while doing it, so we decided to create and host our own events. Say hello to Genuine Links.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In terms of coming up with ideas for event curations and designing our brand, the road has been fairly smooth. However, it has been challenging when we reach out to an established business for partnership or an opportunity to host an event with them, and they don’t take Genuine Links serious since we are so new. Many times, we have been asked for our Instagram & Tik Tok accounts so that businesses can gauge our following, which is understandable, but it is difficult trying to sell your brand when your social media following doesn’t match the wholehearted intent. Promoting our company and our “Baddie & Bachelor Brunch” event to the public has been one of the most reassuring parts. When we are out connecting with people and sharing our story, it’s refreshing receiving the same excitement and energy from those just as interested in forming genuine connections. Which makes the hard work worth it!

We’ve been impressed with Genuine Links, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Genuine Links is a new woman-owned Event Curation Company based in Houston. Our company is unique from event planning services since we curate every aspect of our events, from the theme to the decorations. For example, our first event, which will be held on Saturday, June 17th, it’s called The Baddie & Bachelor Brunch, and it is a singles event created and hosted by Genuine Links. Genuine Links has streamlined creating this event by building the guest list, finding the venue as well as local pop-up vendors, planning the interactive experiences to take place at the event, and covering all other details that truly make an event unique and special.

Genuine Links plans to curate events once a month that will bring together like-minded individuals outside of the typical nightlife scene in attempt to help our guests form connections and build a strong community.

Our Brand Mission – “Connecting people through exclusive experiences.”

If you would like to support Genuine Links, you can do so by following us on Instagram to keep up with future event updates and hopefully attend one, or a few, or them all!

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
A fun fact about my business partner and me is that we launched our brand in one weekend while on Vacation. What can we say passion over palomas.
