Community Highlights: Meet Dr. Edward Dickerson of Cape Fear Aesthetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Edward Dickerson.

Hi Dr. Dickerson, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born in Germany, where my dad was stationed in the military. I came to the United States at age two and was raised in Peekskill, New York. I received my bachelor’s degree from West Virginia State University, a proud HBCU where my family has been educated for more than six generations. I then attended Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia where I met my wife of 30 years.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I wouldn’t call it a ‘smooth’ or ‘rough’ road; it’s just my road. Everybody owns their own road. Every time I ask or pray for something, it did not necessarily come in the form or timing I wanted. When I prayed for wisdom, what I received were more challenges to overcome. Those challenges have filled my life with experiences that formed my character.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Cape Fear Aesthetics?
We provide expert surgical and non-surgical aesthetics services. Our most popular client is the discerning female who is looking to have some sort of mommy makeover. For us, that includes procedures in the head, neck or face region, the breast area, body or even hair transplants. We specialize in providing solutions that will make them feel more in command.

We are a local and diverse practice. We speak three different languages — English, Spanish and Russian — and are always looking to expand upon that. The pandemic has allowed us to reach our Carolina community quickly and confidently with our virtual consultations. And we’re always smiling–whether it’s a video conference or a phone call, we’re smiling on the other end. Smiling is still the best face lift for anyone.

Ultimately, we want to help you confidently command your curves! It’s all about what makes our patients feel confident. There’s a sign on our wall that reads, “If you are confident, you are beautiful.” We want to make sure that we’re providing the patient a solution so that they can make a valuable decision that’s going to make them feel better.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I wouldn’t characterize myself as a gambler, but I will bet on myself all day, every day. I hate forfeiting something I’ve worked so hard to earn: time and money. I apply the resources available to complete whatever the mission.

Risk is something that you can minimize if you’re making an informed decision. If you want something to work, you have to “work” it first. You have to move first. Before the Red Sea parted on the way to the promise land, the voyagers first had to get in the water. Intentionally arm yourself with the tools and tactics to minimize risks and maximize rewards.
