Today we’d like to introduce you to Honor Godin.
Hi Honor, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up in Houston (in the city of Bellaire) and I was raised in the ’80s by a busy, hard-working single parent that did the best he could do to raise me. Despite his best efforts, I still accumulated a whole backpack full, or rather suitcases full of low self-esteem, low self-worth, and the self-deprecation that comes with that. I found myself later raising my own children from an ‘empty well’. In my 30’s (20 years ago now) the pain I had suppressed began to surface in my life. I had created the life of my dreams, a beautiful home, husband, children, and everything I wanted but I still felt something was missing. I realize now that what I was missing was ‘ME’, I was missing the ability to stay present to my own feelings. After years of suppressing traumas and the feelings that stemmed from those traumas, I was no longer able to function as I had before. I was in physical, mental and emotional pain. It was a dark night of the soul, and in that darkness, I discovered one of the most profound and life-changing truths that I now stand on, and that has become my life’s mission to share with others. I realized that ‘our greatest weaknesses are our actually are greatest strengths’ and that the very things that I had experienced as painful were my pathway home to myself- my great strengths and my purpose. This awareness has helped me transmute addiction, shame, and guilt into a life that has exceeded my expectations and is far greater than anything I could have ever imagined for myself. I now share these tools with others and I experience it is a true ‘honor’ to support my clients in making these discoveries for themselves.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have gone through some very tough times which includes the loss of my Mother at the age of two, very troubled teen years, battles with addictions, and a very painful divorce and the loss of my home. I am so grateful now for these experiences because they have grown me so much and have given me the lessons that support me in experiencing so much continuous peace and ease now. It takes vigilance, self-awareness and commitment to bring the unconscious conscious. But when we do, our lives become so much richer, clear and fulfilling. No one ever said it was going to be easy but I have found that doing our own inner work and transforming our lives is glorious!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a Family, Individual, Corporation, and Relationship Coach.
Our coaching firm offers in-person trainings, online trainings, and transformative retreats. We also offer individual and group coaching sessions.
I am so happy to have my oldest daughter now working with me. We are looking forward to co-leading a women’s retreat in November (www.yoga-camp.net)
My daughter and I will be bringing our effective coaching systems to universities as well. Our system of coaching is so effective in supporting our young people, many of who have been struggling with depression and anxiety. We are also very enthusiastic about a non-profit we are creating to bring these tools to people that wouldn’t usually be exposed to emotional intelligence training.
Our methods and teachings are powerful, and we love witnessing people find their true ease and joy in life! We love what we do! And the results speak for themselves!
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Remember your greatest weaknesses are actually here to be your greatest strengths! If you find you are struggling with something, be willing to ‘get the gold’ from the lessons contained in it. Make sure to remind yourself that there are no mistakes or failures, only opportunities for your growth and expansion. Our lives are meant to be enjoyed. Stay in enjoyment!
Remember, whatever you have struggled with is actually what you are here to overcome and have as your strength. Play life like a game, a game of lessons where you continue to go to the next level. Enjoy the game of life!
