Conversations with the Inspiring Brittanee’ (Bri) King

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittanee’ (Bri) King.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve been surrounded and influenced by entrepreneurs for a huge portion of my life. I became an entrepreneur in my own right at the age of 19. From being a talk show host to starting my business, launching Nvsme (pronounced envious me), I have had my fair share of experiences throughout my journey.

Nvsme began as a promotional agency for models and photographers and was used as a platform that provided tools, support, and inspiration to aspiring creatives to help them reach their dreams. The agency also produced five calendars, a behind the scenes DVD and an R&B mixtape, which achieved an international distribution network. As the company grew, it evolved from trendy and hip-hop to a more subtle, classic, and modern brand focusing on attainable luxury fashion jewelry. As part of our transformation, we begin cultivating and curating unique art pieces for the vibrant, confident person who loves to stand out.

Has it been a smooth road?
If anyone ever says that the road has been smooth, please point me in that direction, Haha! No, but seriously that means they’re not being challenged enough. To be candid, I view obstacles as areas of opportunity to grow and learn. The three major areas of opportunities faced while building a brand are the fear of failure, balancing responsibilities and limited funding.

The best advice I can give you is don’t run away from the challenges you are facing in life. Don’t ignore them or try to hide from them. Face them. Deal with them and defeat them! The greatest growth in life will come when you face and deal with a serious obstacle. Regardless of the result, value the experience and personal growth.

Nvsme – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Nvsme provides attainable high-quality fashion jewelry for an affordable price. By using vibrant colors and providing on-trend products, We also encourage individuals to stand out, feel empowered and confident. Our number one goal is to empower as well as accentuate strong, independent people! Being bold, exuberant, and focused set us apart from others, we will always keep our purse first but have fun while doing so!

Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
When it comes to finding a mentor, you have to create and cultivate the connection. You must first create a bond between you and your mentor, then cultivate it. When looking for a mentor, I will research them and write down as many questions as possible. This allows me to be familiar with them before meeting them.

What has worked well for me is, once I have created the connection, I will begin to look for ways that I can help out my mentor, you know… reverse mentoring. Then I make myself just as valuable to them as they are to me, which allows equal give and take. I had noticed that when I started doing this, I build stronger relationships and life long mentors, who are willing to go the extra mile.
