Today we’d like to introduce you to Felicia Sexton.
Let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I am a recovering addict of over 25 years. I sold, transported and used drugs.
A true dope fein. I have gone from to dope to hope. I owned The Women’s Health and Fitness Center, an all women’s gym for 7 years. I am a 57-year-old bodybuilder, I’ve won over 23 shows. I wrote From Recovery To Discovery, My Journey Through Addiction to share my story and how good GOD is. Our gym is a safe place for women.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I minister to and train women, I’ve created a safe place with my gym. Bible Study, Personal Training, Business Empowerment. I’m proud of my years of recovery. Writing my book and traveling the country speaking about it. What sets me apart is I’ve been to the lowest of highest in life… either way still I rise.
What do you feel are the biggest barriers today to female leadership, in your industry or generally?
I am in a male-dominated industry and we have to work harder. We have to stand in our boldness and not be easily broken.
