Conversations with the Inspiring Lindsey Hulquist

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Hulquist.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Lindsey. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always been taught to hustle from a young age. Whether it was building my own lemonade stand at age seven to building my own brand at 27. There were, of course, many jobs in between, but they all had one common denominator, which was dealing directly with people.

I love talking to people, helping them, & more importantly inspiring the next person. I always felt it would create a domino effect to a better world we live in.

What inspired X Label was; I started working in corporate America at a young age & had no idea what to do, how to dress (appropriately) or how to be professional as a young, broke millennial. The more I looked, The more I noticed there wasn’t really an outlet for modern, profesh but stylish workwear.. at least not in my price range. Therefore, I knew once I became established that one day I wanted to create a brand for the everyday working boss babes whether they be in an office, at home, raising children, fresh out of school, wherever! My goal was to help other women dress for success & not break the bank in the process, & in turn, somehow find a way to give back to the community along the way. That’s when X Label was born.

I always knew my passion involved people, clothes, & creating a bigger picture. X Label merges all those factors together. I’ve never had a job that didn’t feel like a job. Nothing feels more natural or in my element than helping other women feel beautiful simply with reminding them of their worth & dressing them in clothes as gorgeous as they are. My vision for X Label is to be an outlet for women to go to when they want to feel powerful, sexy, & motivated.

The “X” in X Label simply represents females. Bold, strong, independent females of every shape & color. I hope one day to have a “Y Label” for men!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No journey to greatness is ever a smooth one. Just like anyone trying to create a brand from scratch I was absolutely afraid to fail. As soon as I got the hang of one thing, something else would surprise me. Soon as I had a great idea, it would crash & burn, but then something I least expected would jolt me forward. I learned that sometimes taking two steps forward could take me one step back, but even if I had to crawl I would always keep moving forward no matter what. That’s where faith & passion play an important role on your journey.

My best advice for any woman looking to turn their dreams into reality is to simply just start. Put one foot in front of the other & never stop moving, crawl if you have to, but never give up. Have faith in yourself!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into X Label story. Tell us more about it.
As a brand, we simply specialize in women. Women’s clothing, empowerment & most importantly confidence. We’re here to dress you in the latest styles, specifically modern work wear. However, we even have you covered for your everyday needs including work events, holidays, date night, etc.

Our commitment & passion will always be what sets us apart. Not only do we live to support the working boss babes, but we are those bosses ourselves. We live & breathe it. Meaning we don’t sell anything we don’t believe in or absolutely love.

As head boss babe of X Label, I’m not only proud of being a platform to highlight other powerful women, collaborate with them, lift them up, make everyone that invests in themselves feel like the goddesses they are; But we are also proud of the difference we currently do & plan to make in our city. We are Htown proud.

We feel the circle of success is to keep giving back to your roots & help as many as you can along the way.

Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
Network network network! Utilize contacts that you have, form new relationships in your field & NOT in your field to help expand your perspective on things. You never know where that one person will lead you to next or who that word of mouth will reach eventually. The key is to make as many invaluable relationships with as many people as you can. Those relationships have played a major role in our success & what I would encourage any aspiring entrepreneur to focus on!
