Today we’d like to introduce you to Onyi Azih.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My story begins as an overcomer. At times it seemed the odds were stacked against me but growing in my faith and believing in myself changed my life. I‘ve learned to love the parts of me that nobody claps for. I’m a busy mom of 2 who loves being positive and transparent while sharing my journey. There was a time when I needed someone to look up to as an example and found no one. I don’t want any young black girls to feel the way I did. That’s why becoming an influencer became important to me.
I started my blogging journey the same year I started Physician Assistant school. My now defunct PA student Blog became where I to shared my experiences with PA school.
Because of the rigorous program, I had very little time to manage my blog, so I let it go. Similar to what happened to my wedding planning blog a few years later.
Early last year, after finding out I was pregnant with my 2nd son, deciding we were going to move, trying to balance working full time and interviewing for new positions; I decided it was the perfect time to start blogging again. I think I work best under pressure, LOL.
What lit a fire in me is when I came across the hashtag #communityovercompetition. As a young mother, I had already moved to several cities and tried to establish new friendships. I yearned to create my own online community where I could always connect with other women no matter where I was. A desire to tell my authentic and unique story, showing other busy women that they too can balance life beautifully. That’s when sincerelyonyi.com came about.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been a true balancing act that I’m still perfecting but I’ve learned to appreciate over time. I’m a wife, a mother and a full-time medical provider, who also runs my blog as a business. Not to mention, I would love to do more I just need more hours in the day.
My advice for anyone wanting to start their journey to PA school is to take it seriously, retake prerequisites if less than a B and you can do this even with a less than optimal GPA.
Anyone wanting to pursue blogging, you have to approach it like a business from all angles. Remain professional and consistent at all times. Invest in yourself and keep learning. My favorite way is through podcasts and I’ve compiled a list of my favorites for bloggers here: https://sincerelyonyi.com/useful-podcasts-for-bloggers/.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Sincerely Onyi, LLC story. Tell us more about the business.
As a Physician Assistant, I treat a diverse population of patients in the Urgent Care setting. As a brand, I am known for wearing many hats and many wigs! I bring brand recognition to products and services that work for me and my family. As a judgement free mommy blogger, I inform my audience about the benefits of breast milk but also that fed is best, so there’s no shame in formula fed. I love dressing up with hair and makeup but I like to share my not so perfect self as often as I can. Life isn’t perfect so why try to convince everyone that mine is?
