Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Gibler.
Rachel, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
After graduating from the University of Miami with a Bachelors in Marketing and Business Law in 2016, I moved to Houston to start my corporate career as an Account Manager at a recruiting firm. At the same time, I was dealing with many personal life changes and grief after the death of my father. For nearly two years, I overworked, wasn’t taking care of my body or mental health, and ultimately burned myself into the ground.
In December 2017, I was in a freak accident that completely changed my life, causing me to take three months of medical leave from my office. During this time, I realized I was living my life on autopilot— completely unhappy, unfulfilled, and with no sense of purpose. I decided to use my time recovering to change my habits, and do research into how I could become happier and live a purpose-driven life– and that’s when I found self-development. I threw myself into reading personal development books, listening to podcasts, watching interviews, and studying the success of other entrepreneurs.
Once recovered, I quit my job, invested in three franchises, and started an Instagram platform rooted in empowering women through mindset and self-development (@rachelgibler). The franchises are all eyelash extension salons, The Lash Lounge, and will be in the Greater Houston area. My first salon will be opening in November of this year in the Heights, and my second is currently being built off of Washington Ave. In addition, I am also dedicated to growing my platform with a mission to share my story and inspire women to live a life on their own terms.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It most definitely has not been a smooth road, but with each failure or setback, I have learned and grown.
My greatest advice for women just starting their journey is to stand firm in their belief in themselves and their purpose. Don’t look at what everyone else is doing–instead, define what YOUR superpower is and show up to serve others with your own unique light. When you inevitably face challenges, remember that life is happening FOR you. Each setback is an opportunity to learn, grow, and evolve. The goal is not to avoid failure, but to fail forward– you must commit to your vision and keep going. Don’t be afraid to try new things, put yourself out there, and pivot when necessary. And have fun!
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
At The Lash Lounge, we specialize in custom eyelash extensions, lash lifts, lash and brow tinting, and threading. We are known for our customized facial mapping system, and providing a luxury spa-like experience to every customer. We are a woman-owned business and love supporting other female entrepreneurs and women’s charities. We take great pride in providing the women in our community with easy and effortless beauty, so they can wake up feeling amazing.
Through my Instagram platform, I focus on empowering women through mindset and self-development. I want to inspire women to live a life by design, on their own terms, while unapologetically owning who they are. I believe we all have a light and a purpose in this world, and it is my mission to own my story while simultaneously giving others permission to do the same.
Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
Take risks and be bold. Don’t feel like you need to stay in a specific career just because you started out there. There are many different avenues to success– don’t compare or feel like you have to be on someone else’s timeline. This is the time for you to try different interests, hone in on your strengths, and discover what truly lights you up. And always trust your intuition above everyone else’s opinion of how you should live your life.
