Conversations with the Inspiring Tamara Smith

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamara Smith.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Tamara. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As a child, I would hide in my closet for hours reading and writing short stories. But as I grew into womanhood, life happened and suddenly reading and writing was no longer a priority. I chose to establish TTS publishing after realizing how documenting experiences can expose commonalities and writing your story can be therapeutic. After writing The Story of a Purple Heart book about an abusive relationship and sharing my story, I found myself again in writing and my childhood hobby became my passion. I decided to start a publishing company that would empower writers to pursue their passions and to deliver messages of resilience, strength, and positivity through literature.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has definitely not been an easy road. I have always been really intelligent and done well in school. However, starting a business proved to be an extremely difficult task for me. In business, you take chances and learn a lot of lessons as you go along. It was essentially like a gamble to me and I do not gamble! I was not comfortable with investing without a presumed outcome. But I prayed and found that faith and gambling were very different. I would tell any woman to have faith and to respect the struggle and you’ll appreciate your success so much more.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into TTS Publishing story. Tell us more about it.
TTS Publishing offers various services to writers to assist in publishing their stories to targeted audiences. Our services include Publishing, Author Branding, Marketing, Book Cover Design, and Story Development. TTS Publishing specializes in assisting amateur writers and aspiring authors. I am most proud of the opportunities my book “The Story of a Purple Heart” have presented. It has motivated me to help others use writing as a therapy by offering writer assistance through TTS Publishing. The goal is to give others a platform to share their imagination, creativity, and truth.

Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
I would tell any young woman starting her career to always put your happiness first. Families, society, jobs, and relationships often deter our goals and we lose sight of what makes us happy. Go after your dreams and don’t let anyone or anything get in your way. Remember that YOU create your own happily ever after!
