Conversations with the Inspiring Tiffaney Dale Hunter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffaney Dale Hunter.

The Houston Hunter is a lifestyle blog that showcases the many hidden gems in Houston and beyond. Tiffaney grew up in the Katy and Northwest Houston areas before going away to college in North Texas. After losing her mother to breast cancer in February 2014, she moved back home to be closer to the family. It was during this time that she realized how much the city had changed and decided to go on a “hunt” to discover all of the great things that made Houston great. This was an opportunity to heal from the loss of her mom by tapping into her love and passion for new adventures, art, culture, and writing.

Additionally, Tiffaney is an award-winning marketing and communications leader, thus enjoys having an open platform to leverage the HH Blog and social media presence as a way to showcase her company’s marketing and public relations clients from an array of industries.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a new venture will always entail obstacles. The beauty is that these obstacles will help you discover a power, strength, and knowledge that you never realized that you had. So, I like to think that the road to transforming your passion into a profit is also an enlightening journey of self-discovery. In the end, regardless of what happens professionally, you will always walk away being a better YOU!

My advice to young women is to follow the desires of their hearts with a clear vision and written plan. Many times when starting a new business endeavor, there is an abundance of excitement accompanied by strong passion and purpose. However, once in the trenches of the day-to-day, you discover that it is not all roses and you eventually begin to question your decisions and whether you are doing the right thing. This is the time that you must step away and revisit your vision and written the plan to remind yourself of your goals and your why. So, it is important that you do this in the very beginning. This is also an opportunity to re-evaluate your plan to see what things are working and to adjust the things that are not.

Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
It is important to always be authentic and genuine. If you are true to yourself, then you are better able to identify your unique qualities and abilities and then leverage them in networking and mentoring relationships.

Mentoring and networking should be a win-win relationship. Most always there is something that you are looking to receive, but by identifying your unique strengths, you are able to offer the other person something great as well that they can not get from someone else because there is only one YOU! I also believe that a person should be both a mentor and a mentee. There is beauty, wisdom, and growth in both.

Additionally, do your research ahead of time so that when entering either situation you have background information on the person or organization and have clear goals and objectives of what you are looking to achieve. Also, feel free to have more than one mentor and mentee with expertise in various areas.
