Today we’d like to introduce you to Tinisha Cox.
Tinisha, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
This upcoming March 2019, I will have been a licensed barbher for 17 years. 17 years ago, I was laid off from my credentialing job so I said no longer will I be expendable. That was the moment that I decided to control my own destiny. A few barbershops/salons later, here I am the owner/operator of The Hot Towel, TX in which I am proud to say is a female-staffed Barbhershop.
Has it been a smooth road?
My one true battle is learning to balance the two. I am an amazing barbher but I’m learning how to become an even better business owner. I am constantly busy working behind the chair so the time that I have to spend to be a business woman is scarce.
Whatever your dreams, goals, or aspirations are, put God first and keep pushing towards them. Don’t let people get you off track or change YOUR GOALS or YOUR VISION. Too many opinions can cause you confusion and cloud your thoughts of what you actually wanted for yourself! #PUSH (Purposely Unbreakable Stand Humbly)
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into The Hot Towel Tx story. Tell us more about the business.
Well, I am a female barbher that specializes in Full Grooming. Haircuts of all types, also servicing men, women, and children. I also am a certified hair restoration specialist. I am known for The Hot Towel service and my wide range of music. I am most proud of the space that I have created inside of the shop. It’s a loving environment that’s comfortable and relaxing. It’s the learning ground for any of the ladies that have become a part of the THTTX team. I believe that an all female staff, as well as the fact that we call ourselves BARB*HERS says it all!!
Who do you look up to? How have they inspired you?
My Mother…
Her perseverance and her heart of gold, not to mention her infectious smile. My Mother is a Woman of God and she has taught me how to be independent and strong!
