Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi, my name is Elle; I am the Founder of The Rose Maven- real roses that never wilt. My business is in its 3rd year, and it has been a journey I’m incredibly proud of. I started this brand in April of 2019 to bring people closer through floral arrangements. And it certainly became the case during the pandemic in 2020. It has been such an honor to be part of the happy memories people celebrate and some of the new ones my bouquets represent (such as engagements, anniversaries, congratulations, new homeowners, and more). This brand means so much to me, and I reflect on every arrangement I make. Adding personal touches is the thing here at The Rose Maven. I strive to make sure every bouquet is unique.
After my sister gifted me a dozen roses at my college graduation, I loved what they represented and that they came from my sister. I was sad to see the roses wilt days later- My arrangement stood for happiness, love, and success. The idea to use preserved roses for these occasions soon emerged. I knew I wanted to spread joy and love through my craft when I started this business. I design each bouquet to represent the moments you celebrate and those that make you happy. Each one is made by me personally with attention to detail and taste. It’s an honor to celebrate these occasions for my clients and an absolute joy to make.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road. As with any entrepreneurial journey, many challenges have come upon me. These came in the forms of slow sales, discouragement, obscurity in my field, and budgetary constraints. Yet, through it all, I always found a way to learn from these experiences to drive my business forward.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Adding personal touches is one of the best parts of fulfilling orders, and I truly enjoy making these unique and personalized bouquets. I love making people happy and love what these roses symbolize. Joy is one of the best words to describe what I do and the emotion it brings out in me and others.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I believe there is a risk in being an entrepreneur overall, especially if it’s your primary source of income. Any investments made for the business have a level of risk. I have certainly paid for services and offers I thought would help scale the brand, but not all yielded the expected results. The same can apply to some people I chose to work with to help calibrate my business. Not all saw my vision or my purpose. Still, everything is a learning experience for me.
