Conversations with Keith Graham

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keith Graham.

Keith, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Making my first debut in a Big Fashion (The Modeling Experience), This spring in L.A. . On March 9, 1992 a model was Born. Growing up right here in the Houston area. Keith Nolan Graham was raised in a two parent home with 2 other siblings, and loved dearly. My family struggled but we always looked at the bright side of things and made the best out of any situation. He grew up in the Historic 5th ward district of Houston in my earlier years, where I attended Nat Q. Henderson, and Atherton Elementary. After, In my teen years, I attended Aldine Middle, and Welch Middle School. And in High School, I attended Nimitz ninth grade center, and I graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. I loved to take pictures, it’s where I find peace. Growing up I struggled with depression a lot.

My thoughts would overtake my emotion, but I wouldn’t let them stop me because even though my mental health issues bothered me. I am still dedicated and determined to reach all of my goals and make all my aspirations come to life. It’s been in me, I could see the visions. And with help from family, friends, different people in the industry of modeling and my Model Coach Cherri Davis from (Coreoftherunway) who stayed on me and told me to never give up and always believe in myself. I’m honored and grateful to have so much love and support from so many amazing and beautiful people. I didn’t know how I was going to make it happen, or where the finances were going to come but it’s all paying off and I am humbled and excited for my career as a runway model, actor, and more. I hope my story will reach someone who struggles with mental health and see that “You can start last and still finish first. Your dreams and goals can still be reached. Just keep believing in you.”

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have battled with mental health issues ever since I was younger. I suffer from depression. I have paid for every photoshoot I have ever done. Accessories or props I needed for fashion shows came out of my on pocket. I don’t know how, God made a way.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have been in the modeling industry for 4 years and have worked with various designers and fashions models. I’ve paid for photoshoot. I have walked in some of the best fashion shows in Houston. Like Fresh off the Rail (FOTR). And have taking photos by Getty Images. I have walked in smaller shows as well. But it all helps with what’s to come.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
We must take risk because we will never know what the outcome will be. I was working hard for a company for 2 years straight working 14-hour shifts. I was tired and wasn’t able to spend much time with family and friends, or work on my modeling career as much. I felt like my dreams It was making my depression worse and making me feel sick. I quit the job to focus on modeling full time, and make more time for family &friends. Now I am getting paid gigs, magazine articles wrote about me. And so much more is to come.
