Today we’d like to introduce you to Khrystian Green.
Hi Khrystian, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
In 2016, I was looking for a new innovative way to expand my artistic abilities. Art has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, from my dad intruding me to the paint program when I was 5 to me now full-on creating my models in the 3d program Blender. With that same sentiment, so has the video game “The Sims.” Like many other millennials and gen-z, I remember searching for cartoons and coming across The Sims 2 advertisement video, and I’ve been enamored since. Fast forwarding to 2016, my first year in college, I was very creatively depleted, then almost serendipitously; I found myself doing exactly what happened 11 years prior. Rejoining the swimming community as an adult is one of the most, if not the most, metamorphic things to happen to my art career. After seeing how many talented artists such as; Ebonixsims and Xmiramira, to say I was inspired is truly an understatement. Since 2016 have cultivated a space where I can express my art freely with immense support. I have also contributed to a community where black simmers genuinely represent them and their style in a space where it was initially difficult to do so.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In my opinion, when it comes to cultivating a space, especially as a visual artist, it is rarely a smooth process. I would say the biggest struggle I face is getting some people who download my content to see the artistry in my work. I understand that people see sim creators and perceive that they started creating content for their love of the game but for me, it’s a form of artistic expression. Despite that, I am very thankful to everyone who has downloaded my content and supported me.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a 3D visual artist primarily known in the franchise ‘The Sims” community as Kiko Vanity; I specialize in 3d modeling creations to later be used as modifications in the fourth installment of The Sims. I am most proud of having the fantastic opportunity to have shared my artwork for six years, and every year, my community has supported my work; and, of course, watched my artwork improve. I believe what sets me apart from other creators is that I consult my inner child every time I put together content to release. Therefore, my artwork is unique and authentic to me.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Never be afraid to follow your dreams, no matter how nonsensical they may seem in our society. To our knowledge, we only have one life, so it’s best to fulfill your desires before you can’t.
