Hi Amanda, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello, I’m a single mother of two kids born and raised in Houston, Texas. I attended Lone Star Community College and graduated with an Associate of Science Degree. At a young age I had high expectations of myself being a Nurse, Married and living my best life. Hey, Sometimes in life we take detours to help ourselves to be stronger and better than before. I know that Dreams still come true no matter what the circumstances or situation may be. I didn’t think at my age I would start a business but I started out procrastinating at first. I didn’t have a good feeling on things because I was thinking negative. What if I don’t have clientele? What if this and what if that. Let’s be clear that’s the Number One thing not to do, is think what other people will think or say about you. Your best support will come from people you don’t know! In the midst of the pandemic I started thinking about doing makeup and ended up selling lashes and gluten- free lipgloss. Things are working out but I still have the patience, determination and compassion to not give up.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting my business hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve experienced a lot of hiccups but I have maintained to overcome those obstacles. I’ve had issues with setting up my website, packages not being delivered on time, not meeting deadlines, and rescheduling events. It can be frustrating and stressful but when everything comes together you will feel better and actually see your vision.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Yes, I personalized in makeup application. I now host pop-up shops and I’m working on doing workshops. I specialize in networking with small business owners to get their business names acknowledged. I’m known for working with other business owners that might want to network with new businesses.I love working with others and nothing is not a competition.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love our city, Houston is best for food, entertainment, and museums. What I least like about our city is the traffic and construction. The weather is crazy but I’m ready for some cool weather.
