Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenda Phillips.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Growing up with drug addiction as an example, I never saw myself being an entrepreneur, but God had bigger plans. I once was a teenager who needed a safe space so I wanted to create that for youth. I knew if I dealt with high levels of trauma with no real resources that there was a lot of me’s that existed. I wanted to be a resource. I knew I could shift mind and change lives if I found the strength to stand in my truth. So I did, because I did my words have been changing the WORLD since. In 2013, I started my first business baby WeCare Do You? From there my entrepreneurship journey has flourished. Allowing me to speak in front of over 60,000 people & mentoring hundreds of youth starting an empowerment apparel brand to expanding. God’s plans for me are endless.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Everyone can’t go. Recently, God has removed 3 people who I classified as near and dear to me. It has been difficult. It has hurt me deeply, but you can’t expect you from others. I am learning that one of the hardest things to do is to mourn someone who is still alive, breathing and who you thought would always be apart of what you do. Bow out gracefully. No in your heart your intentions are pure despite what they have done to you. Don’t let what others do change who you’re. I know that can be hard but it will be rewarding in the end.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I do a lot. I am a lot. I am a teenage Life Coach expert. They call me the kid whisperer. I’m known to be able to really impact and inspire youth to become a better version of themselves. I have had the privilege to travel and speak at countless schools and youth-based facilities impacting over 60,000 youth. I am also known for my spoken word and storytelling my voice is my gift and it’s bigger than me. I’m known for my clothing brand BInspired a stylish empowerment apparel brand created not just to empower you but to empower everyone you come in contact with. I am known for being all things inspiration. This is me.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
You never know what is on the other side of your fears until you take the chance. Take the chance. You exceed your expectations and you will grow no matter the outcome. You have to take risks in order to reach your full potential. Faith it. Believe in your own abilities. You won’t regret and will Thank yourself later. No, it won’t be easy but it will be worth it.
