Daily Inspiration: Meet Bruno Baltazar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bruno Baltazar.

Hi Bruno, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born and raised in Portugal, moved to the USA when I was 19 years old and been living in the Katy area for the last five years. Prior to that, I resided in Maryland and South Carolina. I graduated with a bachelor in criminal justice from Penn st and minors in sociology and IST, I then attended Arizona state University where I graduated with two masters, in Homeland security and Criminal Justice, I currently teach at Royal High school, both sociology and psychology and reside in the Katy area with my wife Kayla and my two kids, Barry and Michael. I did many jobs before from security to caregiver within the region but wanted something bigger in terms of community involvement so I started a few projects, all for now under the umbrella of Pottstown Firebirds as my business name.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t, but the journey is what makes things fun! Where you are now is just paving the road from the success you may travel tomorrow. I was working 16 hours shifts as I was taking my masters online, at the same managing being a husband and a father. So of course, there was a lot of hardships here and there. But being uncomfortable yet busy lead my to think of many strategies to try to make ends meet aside from the two full-time security jobs I had at the time.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I self-published a book about a true story of a sports team that existed in the late 1960s, it was a bunch of guys flocking to a small town in Pennsylvania trying to be successful in what was the NFL minor league system, if players proved their skills, they would be called out by NFL teams, so we see many different people that just graduated from college from all around the country going to this small town, making $100 per game, and holding community jobs at the same time they are trying to be successful in life. I think this is a story we can all relate at some point in our lives, so it isn’t just a book about sport, but a book about a timeless journey trying to reach and be successful. It’s called “The Timeless Victors” and available to purchase a signed and limited edition on pottstownfirebirds.org. There is also hoodies there available to purchase, and what makes things interesting is the art of someone not originally speaking English as its own native language being able to write a book in English about American history, so the way I wrote it makes you stop and think here and there as it gives you a perspective of a writer whose main language is a foreign one. I also hold an ebay page that contains my other business as I buy and resell sports memorabilia on ebay under the name Pottstown firebirds.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Creativity is key and being original. These skills sets anyone apart from one another, we are all unique, but being different and breaking the norm is what makes creativity unique.
